Reminders
Solar Eclipse
On Monday, April 8th, we will have a chance to see a partial solar eclipse over the state of California. However, as you may know, it is very dangerous to look directly at the sun without special glasses.
While at school, we will be monitoring the progress of the eclipse and allowing students to go outside and view the eclipse, IF YOU HAVE THE SPECIAL GLASSES.
Anaheim Hills Public Library (Canyon Hills Branch... off Nohl Ranch Road above Canyon High School) has informed us that they have solar eclipse glasses available to anyone who requests them. Sometime before April 8th, visit the Anaheim Hills Public Library (Canyon Hills Branch... off Nohl Ranch Road above Canyon High School) and request a free pair of solar eclipse glasses, so you can take part in this historic event. However, don't wait too long. They are only available, starting next week, while supplies last.
Hooded Sweatshirts
Coyotes! As a reminder, hooded sweatshirts of any kind are not allowed. Students must be in uniform attire at all times. If you have any questions, please ask an adult on campus. Failing to follow the rules will result in consequences.
Binder Reminders and ID Cards
Students should have their binder reminders and ID cards with them daily. If you have lost your binder reminder you can replace it for $15 and ID cards can be replaced for $5. Please see Ms. Garabedian in the front office.
This Week at El Rancho...

8th Grade End of Year Packet
8th graders received their end-of-year packets on Friday, March 22nd. If your student was absent, the packet is attached below, on the 8th grade Google Classroom page, or they can stop by the front office to pick up a packet when we return from spring break.
Next Week at El Rancho...
April PTSA Meeting
Hello El Rancho Families,
Our next PTSA meeting will be April 9th at 8:30am. I hope to see many of you there.
At our meeting our guest speaker will be Nicole Pilar, a college counselor. She spoke last year and provided a lot of good information as to what parents should be thinking about as their children are going into high school, as well as what not to be worried about. She provided suggestions of what kids should be doing with their summer vacations to enhance their profile to colleges.
I have also asked her to discuss some Canyon specific questions I had.
- How the IB program at Canyon affects your college application.
- How the CTE programs at Canyon affects your college application.
Please join in person or online at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88099202485?pwd=dnl6cVlKTGpVSE04RndKektvVlByZz09
HSA Award nominations will be happening soon, so please think of volunteers, teachers or administrators that you think have made a difference. A separate email will sent for the nominations.
Sincerely,
Baiju Mehta

Tutorial Menu-April 10 & 11
On each Wednesday and Thursday, we have Tutorial for 30 minutes before lunch. Students should use this time to make up tests, complete missing assignments, and get help from teachers when needed.
Students who are stamped by their teacher must attend that tutorial session. If stamped by multiple teachers, the subject that has priority that day takes precedence.
Students who have C grades or better, are not stamped by a teacher, and do not have any detention stamps, can go to PE, the Little Theater, or Library to complete homework. It is the student's responsibility to check their grades prior to Tutorial.
Students have a 5-minute passing period to get to their tutorial room. Once students arrive at their Tutorial destination, they stay there for the entire 30 minutes. Please use the menu below to make a plan for this week!

Information and Resources
Administration and Communication
El Rancho administration works as a management team with three assistant principals, called advisors, who work alongside our Executive Director, Mrs. Walker, to help students be successful. Advisors work with students in the areas of attendance, academics, behavior, and scheduling. The student body is divided into groups by their last name and assigned to an advisor who is like the principal for that part of the alphabet. Students with Section 504 Plans will have Mrs. Beard as their advisor.
Advisors are always happy to help answer general questions regarding school programs. We encourage families to first address questions regarding the grade book, assignments, and classroom interaction to the individual teacher and advisors can be cc'd on communications at any time.
