Unit 4 Assessment
Instructions
You will write two poems. One based on what you have learned about the Industrial Revolution in Japan and one on what you have learned about the Industrial Revolution in England. You must include all of the terms or concepts in your two poems in some way. Some terms apply to both countries, some only apply to one country. You need to make sure the terms are used for the correct countries and are used in a way that shows you know their meaning.

Poem Format
You must have a minimum of 15 lines in your poem.
You must choose a either an acrostic poem, a series of haiku's, or a ballad.Acrostic Poem
A type of poetry where the first, last or other letters in a line spell out a particular word or phrase. The most common and simple form of an acrostic poem is where the first letters of each line spell out the word or phrase. The word or phrase must be relevant to the unit of study.
Ballad
A poem that tells a story, which are often used in songs because of their rhyme. A ballad is a poetic story, often a love story. Rhymes should be written in either abcb or abab rhyme schemes.
Haiku
A Japanese poem which can also be known as a Hokku. A Haiku poem is similar to a Tanka but has fewer lines. A Haiku consists of 3 lines and 17 syllables. Each line has a set number of syllables see below
Line 1 – 5 syllables
Line 2 – 7 syllables
Line 3 – 5 syllables

What do you need to turn in and when?
Rough Draft of Poems (no visuals) due Wednesday 11/16/2016. (Worth 25 Points)
Peer Review to be completed in class on Wednesday. (5 Points Per Review You Give! Max of 15 points possible.)
- Final Poster with poems and visuals due Friday 11/18/2016. (Worth 100 Points) If you are absent on Friday you must submit Thursday or submit the project digitally by Friday at 4:00 PM.
