PTJH NAMES TEACHER OF THE YEAR
Our PTJH Teacher of the Year for the 2024-2025 school year is Ms. Dasia Williams!
Ms. Williams has consistently shown her amazing ability to build strong relationships with her students while pushing them to succeed consistently. We love having her at PTJH!
JUNIOR HIGH
Our PTJH students are learning about influential women this month for Women’s History Month! Reading classes visited the library this week where Mrs. McGowan taught them about some incredible women throughout history.
Right outside of our PTJH Library, students worked with Mrs. McGowan to create an amazing “Wonder Women” wall to highlight influential women throughout history.
Students from our Middle, Junior High and High School campuses had the great opportunity to meet with Congressman Nathaniel Moran who serves the First Congressional District of Texas. Thank you for visiting our district and the impact you made on our students' lives!
On Friday, March 8th, over 20 students from both the middle school and junior high campuses came together to try out for one of only 12 spots for our PTJH Cheer Team led by Ms. Dasia Williams. It was a tough competition but the judges were able to choose a strong group for next year's team.
Congratulations to our newly named PTJH Cheerleaders for the 2024-2025 school year!
Our fantastic PTJH Student Council team decorated our front entryway with positive words of encouragement for our students taking the CBA’s during the week of March 5th.
Thank you to Mrs. Snapp and our Student Council for building up our students for their assessments!
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Mrs. Boydstun’s fifth and sixth grade Reading classes read Charlotte's Web recently. They visited the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler. The farm life area resembled the setting in the story. Students were excited to see all the animals and what it takes to care for them at the zoo.
HIGH SCHOOL
Spring Break has come and gone, and it is only two months and four days until graduation.
Things continue to be busy but successful here at Pine Tree High School. The PTHS choir took a trip to New York over break and had a great time-seeing all of the sights as well as a show or two. The Pride marched at Disney World and had a great time in the theme parks for a few days as well. Debate earned a fifth place finish at state competition in Austin over spring break.
Now it is the fast paced flurry to the finish of school and graduation. Seniors are busy finishing classwork and college entrance requirements.
Prom is set for April 20 with Senior Breakfast, Senior Walk and Senior Picnic on May 17.
UIL Academics is nearing district competition, and PTHS is primed to take first this year and send a host of students to regionals and state. This has been a great year of work for the Pine Tree students. Sponsors Lee Branson and Terri Davis have done an excellent job in leading the coaches and students through a rigorous schedule.
Culinary, welding, construction and automotive still have big competitions ahead of them before the end of school with Pine Tree certainly poised to bring home a host of medals from these events as students have been laboring since fall to get projects ready for the judges. Look for more information on this soon.
Ten Pine Tree seniors will be signing to play football and baseball at colleges across the country on Friday, March 22nd. The event is set for 3 p.m. in the Pirate Center. These scholar athletes have worked hard in the classroom and on the field to prepare themselves for the next level. Dealyn Evans is leading the pack by signing with Texas A&M to play football, but other student athletes committing to Hardin Simmons, Kilgore College, and schools across Texas and the southwest.
Academically, Pine Tree has a lot of teachers in major projects right now, and students are busy from sun up to sundown with work in the classroom. There are some pretty special projects being done right now across the academic spectrum, proof that Pine Tree puts a strong emphasis on classroom work but also tries to broaden a student’s horizon by offering extra curricular classes as well.
The yearbook is officially finished for the year and is being printed as we speak. It will be delivered back to PTHS in completed form the first week of May. There are only 200 being printed, so students who want one should purchase the book now before they run out. Students can purchase a yearbook online by going to the high school website and clicking on the Buy a Yearbook Button and following the instructions to pay with a credit card or individuals can send cash or check to Greg Collins in Room 612 to secure a book. This year’s offering has over 3,000 pictures from school events and is an excellent book, according to Collins.
The end of the school year is approaching, so keep in touch with students, teachers and administrators to know what is going on at the school.

LEARNING ABOUT INVENTORS
First grade CEER students in Mrs. Graves' class researched different inventors. They each chose a person of interest and spent several weeks reading biographies and autobiographies.
