PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
Dear Wauwatosa Montessori School Family,
I have a few updates for you including our announcement of the MMABASE Teacher of the Year
School Growth Plan Update!
If you didn’t get a chance to check out our Wauwatosa Montessori School Growth Plan Update, please take some time to view the update here! We have an incredible community of staff, students and parents who come together to support all of our students in reaching their fullest potential. Our staff took some time to celebrate growth and reflect this week together. We are proud of our students.
MMABSE (Metropolitan Milwaukee Alliance of Black School Educators) Teacher of the Year Announcement!
We are proud to share that Ms. Charise Dawson, our Montessori Adolescent Teacher, is our MMABSE (Metropolitan Milwaukee Alliance of Black School Educators) Teacher of the Year! Ms. Dawson will be honored at MMABSE’s 22nd Annual Teacher of the Year Gala! Ms. Dawson holds high expectations for all of her students, demonstrates a growth mindset, and extends learning beyond the classroom setting. Each day she intentionally provides access so that all students can experience instruction that guides them to the next level. She creates a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment and promotes respect and appreciation for diversity. Ms. Dawson serves on a number of committees at WMS and exudes a positive and collaborative spirit. Ms. Dawson, we thank you for your dedication to providing our students with an authentic and rigorous Montessori Adolescent Program learning experience.
Forward Testing
We are very proud of our Upper Elementary and Adolescent Program students this week. They engaged in Forward testing in Science, Social Studies, and ELA. In the coming weeks, they will engage in one more ELA session and math sessions. Our Lower Elementary students have been engaging in test preparation this week, in addition to their Montessori lessons and follow-up work and activities.

Let us know at tosamontessori.ptsa@gmail.com.
Tosa 2075 Task Force
There are some big topics being discussed about Tosa Schools and we believe knowledge is power. Over the next several weeks, the PTSA will be sharing briefs and data related to the areas of change the district has identified for the Tosa 2075 Task Force, school board, and Tosa Community to consider. This question was asked in the first brief. “Is the District’s investment in specialty schools and elective programming beneficial to the overall academic and economic goals of the District?” What do you think? Read the full Academic + Resident Student Enrollment Brief HERE.
Clinic is being held at Wauwatosa East High School on Saturday, April 13th from 9-12pm. All students in K5 through 8th grade are welcome.
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM
My name is Jen Jacobs, mom to Olivia in 5K and Preston in 5th. I also am the co-editor of the Oak Tree Oracle, our student-led newsletter. Hopefully you all have been enjoying the “news” from the classrooms! Up until now, the newsletter has been run completely by students in Mrs. Namboothiry’s upper elementary class but I am so excited to be adding student reporters from Ms. Emily’s class as well! They will have a special section featuring student achievements outside the classroom. For example, do you have a child that sings? Plays the drums? Is a karate black belt? Dancer? Theater performer? We want to hear about it and celebrate them! If you and your child are okay with them being featured in the newsletter, please email the Oak Tree Oracle with the student and a picture if available of them doing it is what they do so our student reporters can interview them. And if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me as well.
Email photos and blurbs to both Preston and Ms. Pallin:
By sending an email with a photo you are also giving permission for the photo to be shared.
For the month of April, we are thrilled to highlight a population of individuals who add diversity to our incredible community. For the month of April, we will be Celebrating All Abilities with a focus on Autism acceptance as well as awareness and acceptance of a wide variety of other disabilities. You'll notice new car line signs highlighting 'famous' individuals with disabilities who continue to make fabulous contributions to our world. Please take time to read these when picking up your child and continue these powerful conversations at home! Students will be exploring disability acceptance and awareness throughout the month through instructional texts, morning meeting conversations and more!
