Hallway lock returns and locker clean out during block 1 & 2

The Café is open in the morning from 8:15-8:40 a.m. with a solid selection of healthy pre-wrapped breakfast sandwiches, pastry, hot & cold refreshments. Additionally, the Café is open during block 1 and 2 scheduled break times.

This is the final week for the Cafeteria food service, the Café will remain open in the morning and BREAKS only from June 18- 23.

Before students leave for the summer we need them to turn their lock in to the office, even if they haven’t been using the locker. If they can’t remember the combination, it is in the PowerSchool Student Portal. Here is the information on how to return locks:

1. LEAVING PRIOR TO JUNE 18: Please bring the lock to the office and write the combination on a tag and lock it.
2. JUNE 18:
1. If a student only has a morning class, please bring lock to the foyer at the end of block 1.
2. Afternoon classes will empty their locker and return the lock during grade level break time. Return the lock and write the combination on a tag and lock it.
3. ONLINE LEARNERS: Please come after school any day before 4 p.m. to return your lock and empty your locker. Please return lock to the office.

Starting on Tuesday, June 22 we will be removing locks and emptying locker materials. Any items remaining on June 28 will be donated or disposed of. Please note classes continue June 21-23 with project completion, assessment opportunities and final exams. Students will need to bring required materials to their classes with them.

Did you know that you can earn high school credits while working during the summer? EIPS offers Work Experience and RAP programs year round. If you are 15 years old, already have a summer job, and would like to enroll in one of these programs please register at https://www.eipscontinuinged.ca/courses.

The results are now available for the 2020-21 EIPS Parent Survey conducted in April. Thank you to all families who took the time to share their feedback with the Division. Part A of the survey included 21 questions related to the three priorities outlined in the EIPS 2020-24 Four-Year Education Plan:

• Priority 1: Promote growth and success for all students
• Priority 2: Enhance high-quality learning and working environments
• Priority 3: Enhance public education through effective engagement

The overall Division results represent 3,198 responses from parents and guardians across the Division. This was an increase in responses from 2,967 last year. The survey results for Bev Facey have helped us identify the following areas of strength and opportunities for growth.

Areas of strength:

• How satisfied are you with the quality of teaching at your child's school? (Strongly Agree 45.88%, Agree 44.13%) 90.01%

• My child's school encourages my child to be a responsible, respectful and engaged citizen. (Strongly Agree 50.20%, Agree 41.18%) 91.38%

• How satisfied are you with the leadership in your child's school? (Strongly Agree 56.08%, Agree 35.69%) 91.77%

• My child has an understanding of First Nations, Métis and Inuit culture and history. (Strongly Agree 35.45%, Agree 50.00%) 85.45%

• My child's demonstrating growth in literacy. (Strongly Agree 32.46%, Agree 51.49%) 83.95%

The feedback gathered in Part A of the survey will help our school and the Division measure its progress toward meeting the priorities and goals outlined in the EIPS 2020-24 Four-Year Education Plan and develop strategies to better serve students and the wider community moving forward.

After the local election this fall, the feedback gathered in Part B of the survey will be used by the incoming Board of Trustees to develop a new EIPS Four-Year Education Plan for 2022-26 and beyond—one that’s responsive to student and community needs and focused on continuous improvement. Thank you to all parents who provided suggestions on how the Division and Board of Trustees could consider updating the Four-Year Education Plan for future years. The Division will share more information about the feedback collected in Part B of the survey after the Board and administration complete their review of the data collected this fall.

Is your child graduating from or leaving EIPS at the end of the school year? If so, they must ensure any information they want to retain from their school cloud accounts is downloaded onto a personal device before leaving.

• Google account – Students must download any wanted content before September 1—download files individually or in bulk using Google Takeout.
• Microsoft account – Students must download any wanted content from their OneDrive account before September 1.

After Sept. 1, 2021, EIPS will deactivate the account and delete all remaining files. For more information, contact the school at 780-467-0044.

Planning to use Student Transportation in the 2021-22 school year? All students who indicated needing transportation services through the returning student registration process are now registered. Families registered will receive tentative route schedules and invoices by the end of the month—fees are due June 30, 2021.

For those students who didn’t indicate needing transportation service through the pre-enrolment process and want to now register, simply contact EIPS Student Transportation at 780-417-8151 or email st@eips.ca. For more information about EIPS Student Transportation visit www.eips.ca/transportation.

The Alexander Rutherford Scholarship is a non-competitive scholarship that recognizes and rewards the academic achievement of senior high school students and encourages them to pursue post-secondary studies. Value up to $2,500.
