A note from your principal
This month we have our 3rd - 5th grade musical on April 11th at 6:00 pm. I can't wait to see our students performance!
April is also the start of state testing. The testing schedule for students is listed below along with some helpful tips for those testing days.
Lastly, May is a busy month with some fun events for all. I have added those dates to the calendar at the bottom of the page.
Eclipse 4/8
No School on Monday, April 8. Each student at PHE will receive a pair of eclipse glasses. The glasses are provided by the Arkansas STEM Coalition and sponsored by Entergy. They are approved glasses that make viewing the eclipse safe for children. Remember, viewing the eclipse without correct protective eyewear can cause damage to eyes.
K-2 Testing Schedule and Information
April 16 - NWEA Reading
April 17 - NWEA Math
NWEAP MAP Growth assessments are unique and adapt to your child's responses to measure your child's knowledge. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. These results will provide a more complete picture of where your child is on their learning journey— regardless of whether they are on, above, or below their grade level. This will be the students third and final NWEA Assessment for the year.
3-5 Testing Schedule and information
April 30 - ATLAS Reading Assessment
May 1 - ATLAS Math Assessment
May 2 - ATLAS Science Assessment
This will be the first year for this assessment. ATLAS is aligned with AR standards. ATLAS is an untimed test, however, students must finish the same day the test is started.
Testing Tips
Tips to help your child have a good test experience:
- Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep.
- Feed them a healthy breakfast or let them eat breakfast at school. (School breakfast is free for everyone)
- Make sure your child is on time for school each day. Late students will not be admitted to class and will have to take the test at a separate time and place.
- Use positive words each morning - "You are going to do your best" "I am proud of you and your efforts" "Testing is hard - I know you will do your best" "Show that test how smart you are" "I love you no matter what happens"
- Encourage them to listen and follow directions.
