Spring has sprung, bringing with it a burst of energy and enthusiasm throughout our school community! We have already had a busy start to April. I love the month of April. You are probably thinking it is because of my name, BUT it is because I love flowers! The blooms and all the vibrant color brings a smile to my face. It is also about the new season. As we embrace the season of renewal, let's also renew our commitment to finishing the school year strong. Together, we can make these final weeks of the school year the most productive yet!

This week students took their Reading STAAR and Reading EOC. All students were amazing! Below are a few tips that will help this next round go more smoothly.

• Chromebooks should be fully charged the night before.
• Testers will NOT have microwaves available for lunch.
• No food deliveries will be allowed on test days. We are a closed campus and visitors are not allowed.

We are thrilled to extend this unique invitation for you and your family to participate in our upcoming Multicultural Night on April 25th. Your family will be assigned a table to display items that represent and tell about your culture. You may make posters or bring music, artifacts, food, traditional clothing, etc. You can even do a short, 5 minute or less performance that highlights the uniqueness of your culture. This is your opportunity to shine a light on your cultural or ethnic background.

Our Secondary Campus is gearing up for our annual Career Fair to be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024. Our 8-10th grade students will have the opportunity to explore and ask questions to people who work in the career fields that they are interested in and may pursue post-graduation.

If your business, or someone you know, would be interested in participating, please let me know as soon as possible. Details are below. Feel free to reach out with any questions that you may have. There are only 25 tables available for this event and we would like to have a great variety of careers for our students to be exposed to.

Careers that our students have specifically requested: Accounting, Legal, Medical (All areas-a lot of our students are interested in the medical field), Dental, Veterinarian, Graphic Design, Criminology, Pilot, Screenwriting/Acting, Sports, Real Estate, Police/Fire, Biologist, Engineering, Photography, Cosmetology, News Reporting, Writing/Editing, Finance, IT, Scientist, Military(all branches), Construction, and All Trades. (All others, not specifically listed, are welcome too!)

*Students have also requested that companies that are hiring teenagers be there as well. So, if you are hiring for after school or summer hours, bring those applications!

LPS Career Fair

Time: 1:30-4pm (Set up starts at 1:00pm)

Place: Leadership Prep Gym-Secondary Campus

*Each career professional/business will have a 4-6 foot table and 2 chairs to display any information they may have. (Each table will have a tablecloth already on it. If you would like to bring your own tablecloth, you may do so.)

*There will be 200-250 students come through the career fair and ask questions.

*You may bring items to pass out; however, it is not necessary or expected.
