THE STRENGTH OF THE WOLF IS ITS PACK
April 5, 2024
Dear Wasco Families,
Wasco boasts a diverse array of talented kids eager to contribute to our learning community. Over the next weeks, I'll showcase some of their remarkable talents, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation for our unique contributions.
The first students I will feature are brother and sister Nyle and Anaya Kashif, who are published authors! When I interviewed them, they explained how they started writing their book long ago, when Anaya was in kindergarten (she is now in second grade). She told me it took a long time to get the book published. When I asked the pair about their process Nyle explained, “If you have a favorite thing, you can have it in your book. I have a favorite page that shows my car.”
Nyle and Anaya’s book, The Hand is Here to Help, is available on Amazon and in our Wasco School library. Also during our time together, I learned their grandfather is also a writer. Anaya shared that her grandfather enjoys writing and is “still” working on this 18th book. She thinks he has written 100 pages or more. I wonder if he has written even more than that!
We're grateful to our families for enriching our community with their traditions, talents, and values, which our students eagerly share with us. If you have a suggestion for a student to feature in upcoming articles, please contact me!

On Tuesday, April 9, Wasco Elementary will host a team member from the Omegaman & Friends Assembly, one of the top school assemblies in the nation.
This assembly will inspire our students to BE A H.E.R.O. and address key issues
such as:
Bullying and peer pressure
Positive choices and dream making
Respect for authority and violence prevention
Self-esteem and academic excellence
This is a great opportunity to showcase our school’s commitment to creating a positive and safe learning environment for our students.
Omegaman & Friends Assembly has performed in over 8000+ schools across the country, challenging and changing young lives with their positive messages. We are excited to share this experience with our Wasco Wolves!
For an extra dose of fun on our first day back to school, which was April Fool’s Day, our Specials Team came up with a great trick! The specials team of Music, Art, PE, LRC, and Empower all switched roles and tried to convince the students that the principal had given them a new teaching assignment. Examples of the switching were sculpture building with PE equipment by our art teacher and building sports fields with materials in Empower. Our teachers know how to have some fun and keep learning engaging!
