A Message from the Principal

Dear Sward Families,

Sward has been full of winter spirit this week, yesterday our hallways were filled with the Grinch’s red and green and today all shades of plaid took over the school! Tomorrow we will be dressing like our favorite character, Thursday we will be wearing our favorite sweaters (ugly and beautiful are all welcome), and Friday we will be celebrating the day before winter break in pajamas!

Just a reminder to send your child's permission form in for our classroom parties for this Friday in order to allow your child to eat the PTA provided snack. The party will take place from 2:00 - 3:00 and will be a full school bingo party!

If you choose to send your child to school with anything to share with their classmates, please remember that NO edible treats are allowed to go home with the children.

As we wrap up 2023, I wish you all a wonderful winter break with many memory making moments and look forward to seeing you when school resumes on Monday, January 8th.

SWARD is Recognized by the State of Illinois as EXEMPLARY

A big congratulations is very well deserved to our amazing Sward teachers, students, and families. Last Monday, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released data used to evaluate all K-12 public schools in Illinois. This year Sward received the highest designation status of “Exemplary”', awarded to Illinois Schools performing in the top 10% of all schools within the state. We are very proud of our achievement at Sward and hope to continue to lead the state in performance!

The NED Show is Visiting Sward

The NED Show will be visiting Sward School tomorrow for an all school assembly that emphasizes and encourages the following:

Focus and persistence
Kindness and shared learning
Diligence and excellene

Ned uses his yo-yo throughout the assembly as a symbol of perseverance. Yo-yo order forms went home last week, please make sure to send in your child's order form by Friday if you plan on placing a yo-yo order.

Family Bingo Night

Sward 1st Annual Talent Show

Calling all Eagles! Sward will be hosting our very first talent show in Spring 2024. Third, fourth and fifth grade students will be able to audition! We are looking for a variety of acts (lip-synching, actual singing, dancing, magic, skits, etc.) Please take some time over winter break to brainstorm ideas for your act! Try out dates and additional information will be announced in January!

Sward Family Night w/The Chicago Wolves

Join Sward families and friends for a night of fun at a Chicago Wolves hockey game on February 17th. All attendees will receive a FREE Chicago Wolves knit hat and be seated together in the same section. Please CLICK HERE for more information.

Early Arrivals

Student supervision for arrival time begins at 8:10 A.M. Safety is always our #1 priority at Sward, because there is not supervision for students who arrive earlier than 8:10 A.M. I ask that you please refrain from having students get to school prior to 8:10 A.M. unless they have a morning club to attend or are ordering a school breakfast.

Safety is always our Priority at District 123. Please use this quick and easy registration link to set up your visitor information that allows you to visit Sward.Once you complete the registration, you will receive a QR code via text or email that allows you to enter the building.
