Musiquita Assembly--February 2, 2024
Musiquita is a bilingual(English/Spanish) interactive educational music experience. Grades 3-5 enjoyed the Musiquita Duo perform originals, Latin Folk music, classical jazz, pop, and children's classicals. They have a play-based approach to learning that encourages the audience to sing, dance, and move along with them in a joyful celebration!
Hudson County Scripps Spelling Bee--February 3, 2024
Congratulations to fifth grader Angelina Smith for her participation in the Hudson County Spelling Bee at the Hudson County School of Technology in Secaucus, NJ! Angelina will also participate in the Jersey City Public School District Spelling Bee on March 23, 2024. We wish her luck as she represents our school in the upcoming district bee! Way to go, Angelina!
Soul Steps Assembly--February 15, 2024
PreK to second grade students enjoyed the high-energy step choreography performed by the Soul Steps ensemble, along with interactive breakdowns of step moves that engaged the audience in both the physicality and the history behind their dance.
100th Day of School Celebration--February 21, 2024
PS 20 students had an awesome day celebrating the 100th day of school with different activities, as well as some students who were in the spirit of representing the number "100" by dressing as senior citizens!
Hudson TMA "Safety Jeopardy"--February 27, 2024
Fourth and fifth graders enjoyed a fun time with the Hudson County TMA, as they provided a fun interactive safety lesson game of "Jeopardy" with the students!
Baba Bomani Assembly--February 28, 2024
Baba Bomani’s program uses rhythm and rhyme to explain basic reading and math concepts, such as how to recognize syllables and showing how a rapper’s flow is simply a number bond math equation! Students had fun as they learned how to rap the alphabet backwards, as well as learned crucial active listening skills with Black History stories.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratory Contest @ City Hall--February 28, 2024
Congratulations to fifth grader Makayla Turner for representing our school as one of the six finalists in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratory Contest at City Hall. She received honorable mention, and she also proudly represented our school at this month's Board of Education meeting by performing her speech for the audience.
