March 2024
A Message from Principal Davis
WHS Counselors have been visiting Social Studies classes over the past couple of weeks to present scheduling options to students for the 24-25 school year. Counselors will continue to visit classes into next week. Students will submit course requests in the Genesis Parent Portal. All requests must be submitted no later than Friday, March 8th. Please keep an eye on your email inbox next week as more information is forthcoming from the Counseling Department regarding this process.
Please note the NJGPA testing dates and bell schedule in the attached letter below. All students will report to school at the normal time and be dismissed at the normal time. The test is administered to all 11th grade students. If you are the parent of an 11th grader please make sure to read the attached letter, and please remind your child to bring their fully charged Chromebook to school each day of testing.
Thank you!
The Local Scholarship Packet for the Class of 2024 can be found on our website: Scholarships. Please visit the site often as scholarships are added as we receive them.
The Local Scholarship Packet for the Class of 2024 is currently available! All of our scholarship applications will be completed online- NO turning in papers to the guidance office! We highly recommend you start the process as early as you can. There are many scholarship opportunities that require a short essay. If an essay is required, we highly encourage you to discuss accomplishments, future goals, intended college major, or any special circumstances regarding financial need. Please note the deadline is Wednesday, March 15th at 6:00 pm. The online portal will close promptly at that time.
Financial Aid- FAFSA
The U.S. Department of Education has started a βsoft launchβ of the 2024-2025 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The new FAFSA form is available on their website: https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
During the βsoft launch,β the 24-25 FAFSA will be available for students and contributors to complete for short periods of time each day. There will be periods of time where the form is not available. Please continue to check back with the website if that is the case.
ALL STUDENTS who plan on attending any type of post secondary education (4 year, 2 year, vocational school) should complete and submit a FAFSA. Even if your family does not qualify for federal or state aid, individual colleges CANNOT award aid (merit, needed based, etc) without a FAFSA being completed.
The New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA) is the state of New Jersey home for financial aid information and support. For more financial aid information please visit the HESAA website: HESAA
Monmouth County Vocational School District (MCVSD)
A representative from the Monmouth County Vocational School District (MCVSD) will visit WHS on Wednesday, January 31st at 9:00 am to share information with sophomores about shared time programs. The online application for MCVSD is now open and can be completed. For more information on programs and to apply: MCVSD Admissions Information & Application
MCVSD offers numerous shared time programs for juniors and seniors at Wall High School. Shared-time programs provide an opportunity for students to enroll in a career and technical education course while attending their home high school. The shared-time classes are a half-day in length and the student continues with their regular course of study at their home high school the other half of the day. Most programs consist of two years of study in which the student learns skills that will qualify them for entry-level jobs or prepare them for further education in their chosen career and technical education field.
