Spring 2024 Testing Schedule

Once each year, all students in Michigan take a state summative assessment. Summative assessments measure what students know and are able to do at specific grade levels and in specific subject areas.
The Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (M-STEP) is given to students online in grades 3-7 to measure their knowledge of state standards in English language arts (ELA) and mathematics. The PSAT 8/9 measures ELA and mathematics in grade 8. Student knowledge of science and social studies standards are measured by M-STEP in grades 5, 8, and 11. High school students take the PSAT 8/9 in grade 9 and PSAT 10 in grade 10 to inform schools, students, and parents on what students know in ELA and mathematics, and to help prepare students for the SAT college entrance exam given to every high school junior as part of the Michigan Merit Examination (MME). The MME consists of a free SAT with Essay that also measures student knowledge on state ELA and mathematics standards, M-STEP science and social studies components, and a work skills assessment called ACT WorkKeys.

💻 Phoenix High School, KILP and KVS have different testing schedules. Other schools' schedules may also vary. Please refer to communication your student's schools or programs.
🚌 Buses will depart the schools at the high schools on the following days:
- April 9 for 11th grade SAT online (12:30 scheduled departure; 2:20 for students with extended testing time)
- April 10 for 11th grade M-STEP (12:30 scheduled departure; 2:20 for students with extended testing time)
- April 11 for 11th grade WorkKeys (12:05 scheduled departure; 2:20 for students with extended testing time)
- April 16 for 10th grade PSAT online (11:30 scheduled departure; 2:20 for students with extended testing time)
- April 17 for 9th grade PSAT online (11:30 scheduled departure; 2:20 for students with extended testing time)

HIGH SCHOOL STATE ASSESSMENTS AND COLLEGE BOARD TESTING SCHEDULE
There are changes in how KPS will administer the high school state assessments this spring.
- Only one grade level of students will report to school on the designated testing days.
- Other students will have remote instruction on their non-testing days. Students are expected to attend their classes at the regular time via Google Meet.
