This message is for senior parents and guardians: Welcome to the craziness of Spring! Throw that in with some weather (Love the rain!) and you get some reschedules. The first change is Senior Signing Day. It will now be on May 7th at 9:00 AM at the Activity Center. Parents, please join us for this fun and meaningful way to honor our seniors as they take their next step in their journey. The second change is the Baccalaureate. We were going to change to a different day, but decided to keep it during its traditional time which is Graduation Day, May 12th at 1:30 PM. Please join your graduate for this important time before the Graduation Ceremony, which follows at 2:30 PM. It's hard to believe that it's only two weeks! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Braylee and Jenica pose in front of Ichabod Washburn on the Washburn University Campus. Juniors got to visit all that Washburn has to offer and then went to Washburn Tech to see what vocational opportunities are available.

The 8th grade class went to Southeast Community College on Friday to learn about course offerings available just north in Beatrice. Students then got to visit the the Homestead National Park where they got an important history lesson. Vincent and Mitchell work to complete the scavenger hunt students did as they learned all about the Homestead Act and what it meant to our country.

Travel to Emporia to see former MJSHS student Allison Dierking perform with her ESU saxophone group on May 3. The first-Friday event will also include time to observe art at galleries downtown. Talk to Mr. Friedrichs if you'd like to go. Limited space available.

The FFA Chapter hosted a successful banquet Monday night as they welcomed family for dinner and then installed new officers and honored all their members. It was a memorable event highlighted by all the leaders we have in FFA.

Mrs. Bena, our librarian, would like to remind everyone that library books need to be turned in as soon as possible. Any books not checked in before the last day of school on May 16th will be considered lost and the student will be billed the replacement cost of the book. Thank you!

Seniors from Marysville, Valley Heights, and Axtell got to learn all about our county government and how it works in their visit to the courthouse Wednesday. Students then were treated to real courtroom proceedings at the historic courthouse next door. Students can be seen talking with Judge Hecke after everything was finished.

Sixth Graders visited MJSHS last week to learn all about what their year might look like when they make the transition to the building next year. They were escorted around the school by some of our very own eighth graders, who showed them where everything is located and answered questions they had about the school.
