News From Art Class
Hi Families!
Happy April!
We always love donations of egg cartons! When students work with tempera or acrylic paint, egg cartons are used as paint palettes. We throw them out after use, so we go through quite a lot of them.
The art room will be busy this month as we work on many exciting projects. Fifth graders are working on making flags that are emblazoned with a personal symbol. Fourth and third graders are learning about color theory and are painting a color wheel. Second graders are doing projects that tie in with the social studies and science curriculum. Kindergarten and first grade will be doing some painting and sculpture.
Look for Square1 Art packets (which will include the complimentary stickers and order information) to go home this first week of April. All sales benefit the school.
Third, Fourth and fifth graders will get to work with a visiting puppeteer in May. They will be making creations for the Fiesta parade. Fourth and fifth graders will be offered the opportunity to perform in the parade. I will send permission slips home during the second week of April
As always, please reach out with questions or concerns or ideas. We welcome your input about current and future art projects!
Be well,
Thea Storz

Welcome back students and families and Happy Spring!
I hope everyone had a well-rested and eventful spring break. I am so happy to see everyone back and am eager to hear all the exciting stories.
For the month of April, our emergent reader class (1st grade) will continue to work on their fluency skills while doing our daily read-together activities. We will also continue to focus on their skill building by practicing phonemic awareness and phonics through games.
For our developing readers (2-5 grade) we will continue to focus on their independent reading. Later this month we will work on their vocabulary and fluency building by doing group read-alouds.

News From Computers
Hello families and students,
Welcome back! During the month of April, we will be solidifying our knowledge in keyboard placement using both Typing Club and unplugged activities. With most students moving on from their PowerPoint Presentations, we will be working towards making data tables in Excel. Please always remember to practice safe technology habits both at home and in school!
