Happy Easter!

We hope you all had a restful/fun-filled (delete as appropriate!) break. We are pleased to be back in school, and have enjoyed welcoming our children back into our classrooms. In fact, on Wednesday, we loved inviting you all into our classrooms!

As we begin our Summer term, lots of exciting things are on the horizon. Please make sure you have a little look at the upcoming dates below, so you don't miss anything!

It was wonderful to see and hear our classrooms so full of joy this Wednesday afternoon, as we flung open our doors and invited our families in to see all the amazing things going on in our school and nursery. We love how well-attended the event was, and thank you for the positive feedback we received after.

It was very clear how much the children enjoyed sharing their learning with you, and we will plan another open classroom event shortly!

Over the Easter holidays, something incredible happened on our school Twitter account. We had posted about St Bernadette's Michael Rosen-inspired funny poetry and, lo and behold, Michael Rosen saw our post! He 'liked' it and then reposted, resulting in a staggering 5.3k views!

How incredible for our Y1/2 children to be able to say that Michael Rosen himself liked their poetry!

Thank you for attending learning review appointments with our teachers this Wednesday evening. We are grateful to have such involved and eager families - it makes such a difference to supporting our children!

Next Wednesday, after the 10am Mass at Church, our Year 3 children will be making their First Reconciliation.

It's an important sacrament and we would love for families be there if you are able to make it.

Next week, we are holding our first Community Coffee Morning!

This is an opportunity for friends and family to get together informally, and our staff can share some of the things going on in school.

Hopefully, these events will help families to have a clearer understanding of our ethos and approaches, so we can work together to help our children flourish.

We hope you will join us on Wednesday, 9:00-9:45am!

Join us in helping to make our community a better place!

We are gathering as a school to support our local area with a litter pick on Saturday 13th April.

Please bring friends and family and join us there!

Beginning next week we are delighted to be offering a brand new Yoga Club on Mondays, after school. You should have received information about this. We still have a couple of spaces available, so please contact the office if you would like to book a place.

Places are first come, first serve.

This week, we have been ABOVE National Average!

Thank you for your support with getting our children into school punctually each day - we know the huge difference this makes to improving their wellbeing and academic potential.

In St Nicholas this week, our nursery children have been using symmetry to create beautiful butterfly pictures! We have enjoyed celebrating God's world!

As part of our Science early learning, our children in St Francis have been exploring the transition from caterpillar to butterfly. They have been really fascinated by this awesome transformation! The children accessed a provision area to show us their own butterfly creations.

In English, we have started our new topic looking at pirates! We loved reading and learning about the gruesome truth about them. We acted out freezeframes of life on a pirate ship with rats, gross food and walking the plank!

St. Patrick's Class have kicked off this half term with learning about Greece linked with our European geography topic. We have been researching modern Greece and have started to make fact files.

During open classrooms this week, St Therese Class demonstrated their independent learning on the Victorians. The children chose aspects of the Victorians to research and present, and they put on a great show. There were stalls on Charles Dickens, Victorian food (including free samples), Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Workhouses, Victorian children, schools and clothing. Thank you so much to all our visitors who came to support us - we hope you enjoyed learning about the Victorians!

We hope all the children enjoyed the Easter eggs from Friends of St Joseph's.

This month's Treat Friday will be fruit themed and on Friday 26th April.

To remind you - Friends of St Joseph's have lots of pre-loved uniforms available, so please do get in touch with anyone in school for any items you would like or need. Equally, if you have any items that your child has outgrown please do donate these so we can pass them on!

We will be planning further uniform sales too to link in with new starter events, so look out for dates for this!
