March 19, 2024

Worship Service March 24
“Orthopathy: Right Suffering in The Great Unraveling” with Peter Jabin
If we are to know anything of resilience or hope as humanity collectively collides with the climate crisis, it is essential that we remember the central importance of grief for the human soul and recover the lost art of grieving. Moreover, we need to expand the embrace of our compassion such that the more-than-human becomes fully grievable. This service will be a meditation, in poetry and reflection, on these ideas, and will provide a global context for the afternoon’s grief workshop.
The worship service starts at 10 am.

The new UU Common Read, On Repentance and Repair by Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg (Beacon Press, 2022), provides a fresh, transformative perspective on how we make ourselves accountable to others.

Faith in Action: Transgender Welcome and Inclusion
On Sunday, March 10, Isaac Jennings, OUUC's Business Manager, offered a Faith in Action forum on "Transgender Welcome and Inclusion." As with almost all of OUUC's forums, the recording was posted in OUUC's YouTube channel and made public to anyone to wished to watch it. Last week, some viewers posted transphobic and hateful comments for this video.
Because we don't want to provide a platform for hate speech and don't want it to remain on the OUUC page, we have removed the recording from public view.
However, it can be accessed with this link or through the Faith in Action playlist on OUUC's YouTube channel.
We remain committed to welcome and inclusion for transgender members of our community. We renew our commitment to naming and combating hate speech. This is how we put our faith in action.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers Needed: Can You Help?
For many, years volunteers from our congregation have twice a month provided main and side dishes for the guests at the Interfaith Works Adult Shelter, located first at First Christian Church, and now at Unity Commons Shelter.
Each third and fourth Wednesday 8 main and 3 side dishes are needed to feed the 58 guests who stay there.
This month for a variety of reasons (health, travels, moving, etc.), several of our volunteers have become unable to bring food for the two OUUC Wednesday night dinners at Unity Commons.
For information about volunteering please contact Jo Ann Young.
