Locally, it is estimated that the partial eclipse will impact our community between 12:49-3:20 PM, with the height of the coverage occurring at approximately 2:09 PM. During the impacted timeframe, all instructional activities, such as recess and physical education classes, will be conducted indoors to protect students from the dangers of viewing and exposure to the sun.

We will make every effort to safely engage our students in this historic event through educational resources and classroom activities, however, we will not host a “viewing party.” Our staff will share the dangers of looking at the sun to avoid potential eye damage with our students. We will also reinforce safety measures with students before dismissal.

Safety is the number one priority when viewing a solar eclipse. The sun will still be very bright during a partial eclipse. It is essential to explain to your children what an eclipse is and the importance of never looking directly at the sun without proper protection, to avoid risk of eye injury.

Tenemos información importante sobre el próximo eclipse solar del lunes 8 de abril de 2024. El eclipse cruzará América del Norte, pasando por México, Estados Unidos y Canadá. Aunque nuestra comunidad no se encuentra en el camino de la totalidad, cuando el sol esté completamente bloqueado, experimentaremos un eclipse solar parcial. La última vez que vivimos este fenómeno fue en agosto de 2017.

A nivel local, se estima que el eclipse parcial impactará a nuestra comunidad entre las 12:49 y las 3:20 p.m., y el punto máximo de cobertura se producirá aproximadamente a las 2:09 p.m. Durante el período afectado, todas las actividades educativas, como el recreo y las clases de educación física, se llevarán a cabo en interiores para proteger a los estudiantes de los peligros de la visualización y la exposición al sol.

Haremos todo lo posible para involucrar de manera segura a nuestros estudiantes en este evento histórico a través de recursos educativos y actividades en el aula; sin embargo, no organizaremos una "fiesta de visualización". Nuestro personal compartirá con nuestros estudiantes los peligros de mirar el sol para evitar posibles daños oculares. También reforzaremos las medidas de seguridad con los estudiantes antes de la salida.

La seguridad es la prioridad número uno al ver un eclipse solar. El sol seguirá siendo muy brillante durante un eclipse parcial. Es fundamental explicar a tus hijos qué es un eclipse y la importancia de nunca mirar directamente al sol sin la protección adecuada, para evitar riesgos de lesiones oculares.
