CRHS T.O.U.G.H. Students of the Month
Brayden Foxwell is the student of the month for the Class of 2027. Brayden was nominated several times in March. The first was from Mr. Newberry, who stated: “Brayden went above and beyond, had heart, and understood diversity in his Introduction to Engineering and Design class. While we were learning the tools of 3D modeling in Onshape, he helped others who had questions about using those tools. It wasn't asked of anyone in class to help others, but Brayden stepped up and cared about his fellow classmates!” Later in the month, Mrs. Henry sent him a shout-out saying: “Brayden works hard in class to obtain his goals by finishing his work, helping those around him, and volunteering answers to help others obtain their goals as well.” So far, Engineering has been Brayden’s favorite class because he likes the “concept of the class, and the assignments given.” For Brayden, being Colonel TOUGH means “to try your best, respect others, and obtain your goals. The most important part of being Colonel TOUGH would be to try your best to obtain your goals while respecting others.
FUN FACT: After CRHS, Brayden wants to go on a long, state-to-state road trip by himself. He says: “I think it would be cool to travel through the states and see how different each one is.”
Jada Holmes Jones is the student of the month for the Class of 2026. Jada’s work on obtaining goals was recognized by Ms. Atchison, who commented: “Jada has been working hard recently to share out more in class. I'm very proud of her for setting a goal and clearly working towards it. This is more than many are willing to do, especially when it's about new content. Keep it up, Jada!” So far, Jada’s favorite class has been band because they “loves the art of music.” After high school, they would like to make playing alto saxophone a full-time career. When it comes to being TOUGH, Jada says: “what's most important is having heart.”
FUN FACT: Jada is genderfluid!
Oktober Schultz is the student of the month for the Class of 2025. Mrs. Smith nominated Oktober during March for every aspect of our TOUGH motto, saying: “Oktober is one TOUGH Colonel. She obtains her goals by actively participating in all discussions and investigations with her team. Oktober treats everyone in class with the highest amount of respect, and she is always ready to help others.” Mr. Shelly stands out as one of Oktober’s favorite teachers because “he always checks in on his students and gives us incentives. He does a lot of work between his classes, but still goes out of the way to give every one of us feedback on our projects.” After high school, Oktober plans to take a gap year to save money for her college plans. She wants to major in biology/marine biology with a minor in sociology or communications. In their opinion, being Colonel TOUGH means showing compassion and care for others. Oktober reports that the most important part of being Colonel TOUGH is “making sure that people feel like they are not alone, and making people feel like no matter what there is someone there for them regardless of who they are.”
FUN FACT: Oktober loves people watching, and listening to others. She enjoys it when people talk a lot about their interests and enjoys having conversations about mostly anything. She likes hockey, learning fun facts and new languages, and she is about to start a new project car!
Stephen Davila is the student of the month for the Class of 2024. Stephen was nominated by Mr. Shaheen for his work in Strength and Conditioning. Mr. Shaheen says: “Stephen has gone above and beyond to meet his goals in Strength and Conditioning. Not only does he work hard to perfect his technique in the weight room, but he also provides constructive feedback to his peers so they can perfect theirs. He has also received 100% on the last two assessments (the only student to do so)!” In his time at CRHS, Mrs. Haldeman has been his favorite teacher because “she makes Calculus an extremely fun class that I look forward to each day!” In Stephen’s opinion, “the H in TOUGH is the most meaningful part for me, because as important as it is to obtain your own goals and drive towards success, it always feels great to have a heart and help others succeed!” After CRHS, Stephen plans to study Computer Science at Chesapeake College.
FUN FACT: Stephen loves tennis, but misses wrestling!
