MAY CHSPS NEWSLETTER
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
We are entering the final weeks of school. It is a time to stay focused and keep the foot on the gas pedal rather than pump the brakes. It is a time to finish coursework and prepare for final exams. It is a time for planning for the next school year. It is a busy time but it is also a time to be patient; a time to support each other.
May begins a time for transition meetings, orientations, field trips, etc. Please keep an eye on your email so you do not miss out on anything important!
Students are reminded to attend school and their classes on time and put forth their best effort in order to be successful in their learning. They are encouraged to be CHSPS PROUD!
Whenever you have questions or concerns, please remember to reach out to your child’s Teacher directly. Conversations are the best way to be proactive and positive…at home with your child or with the school.
Thank you for the ongoing support we receive from all of you at Central :)
Please always feel free to contact me and/or Mr. Madison Nickel if you ever have any questions (email: rcowan@brsd.ab.ca/mnickel@brsd.ab.ca or phone: 780-384-3817). Better to ask, than wonder.
Stay CHSPS PROUD everyone,
Richard Cowan
Principal
TREATY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We acknowledge that the land on which we gather, traditionally known as asiniskawsipisis (Stoney Creek), is Treaty 6 territory and a traditional meeting ground for many Indigenous peoples. The land on which we are located provided a travelling route and home to the Maskwacis Nêhiyawak, Nakoda, Tsuut’ina Nations, the Métis, and other Indigenous peoples. Their spiritual and practical relationships to the land create a rich heritage for our learning and our life as a community.

TRANSPORTATION REGISTRATION 2024/25
BRSD Transportation is pleased to announce that bus registration for the 2024/25 school year will open at 9 a.m. on April 17, 2024, and close at 4 p.m. on June 27, 2024.
The change in the registration window will allow for more timely notification of student bus assignments. This change also allows for better communication between schools, families and transportation department staff. Earlier route assignments help bus drivers to be fully prepared for the upcoming school year and adjust to any route changes that may occur.
Students from the City of Camrose and the Town of Tofield must register annually. For all other locations, students need to register only if this is the first time they have ridden a BRSD school bus, such as new students beginning Kindergarten.
Additionally, students that have had changes to their contact information, such as physical address or school of attendance, are required to register. If there are no changes to student contact information, rural students will automatically be included in the route plans for the upcoming school year, and there will be no need for them to register.
Applications for school of choice/cross boundary transportation will be available at 9 a.m. on May 1, 2024.
