LeFlore Magnet High School's JROTC program has once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence. Recently, a group of dedicated cadets traveled to Prattville, Alabama, to participate in the Annual JROTC Leadership Conference. Through engaging workshops, meaningful interactions, and shared experiences, cadets have emerged as empowered leaders poised to make a positive impact on their school, community, and beyond.

LeFlore's Health Science Academy Students Visit Bishop State Community College

LeFlore Magnet High School's Health Science Academy recently traveled to Bishop State Community College's Center for Nursing and Health Sciences. This visit offered LeFlore's Health Science students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the realm of healthcare, gaining firsthand insights into the facilities and practices that shape the future of the healthcare industry. The use of virtual reality equipment at Bishop State Community College was significant to the experience. With this new technology, students were able to practice their abilities in a dynamic and immersive setting by participating in simulated clinical scenarios.


Through the integration of virtual reality and hands-on learning experiences, LHS Health Science Academy students feel excited and empowered to embrace innovation, cultivate essential skills, and embark on a path toward success in the dynamic and evolving world of healthcare.

Fine Arts & Media Entertainment Academy

The Rattler Choir Will Performing in New York This Summer

LeFlore Magnet High School's choir has been invited to grace the prestigious stage of Carnegie Hall this summer! After an incredible audition process, our talented choir students have earned the extraordinary opportunity to showcase their musical prowess in the heart of New York City. This is a testament to their dedication, passion, and hard work.

Moving Images Dance Company

We are excited to announce that LeFlore Magnet High School's Moving Images Dance Company has been invited to showcase their incredible talent at the State Capitol! Under the Capitol Moves Program by the Alabama Dance Educators Association, our extraordinary dancers, alongside Dunbar Fusion Dance Company, will grace the stages of the Gordon Persons Building and the State Capitol in Montgomery, AL on April 4th.

Law Academy

Law Academy Students Participate in a Mock Trial at Adams & Reese Law Firm

Law Academy students visited Adams and Reese Law Firm. They participated in a mock Supreme Court Trial on Cyberbullying, Freedom of Speech, and the First Amendment. The students presented as lawyers and Supreme Court justices. This was part of the Legal Diversity Pipeline Program formed by the Street Law Program.

Dr. Shanita Pettaway Visits Law Academy Students

Law students had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Shanita Pettaway when she stopped by to speak with them. Dr. Shanita Pettaway, J.D., Ph.D., is a 2004 LeFlore Valedictorian and serves on various international and professional boards. She spoke about her journey from LeFlore to where she is today. Dr. Pettaway serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor and USA and Pre-Law Advisor at the University of South Alabama.

Students Visit the United States Courthouse

During their visit to the United States courthouse, students were immersed in a dynamic learning experience about the inner workings of the Federal court system. They engaged with a diverse array of professionals, including federal agents, analysts, attorneys, and judges, who provided invaluable insights into their respective roles and responsibilities within the legal framework.


Through interactive sessions and informative discussions, students gained a comprehensive understanding of the intricate processes involved in maintaining justice at the federal level. The visit not only broadened their perspectives but also instilled a deeper appreciation for the critical role played by each individual in ensuring the fair and effective functioning of the justice system.
