Communication from Ms. Sudan
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we enter the season of prevalent illnesses, we want to emphasize the importance of maintaining good health for both your child's well-being and their academic success. We understand that the increased risk of illness can be concerning, and we are committed to providing a safe and healthy learning environment for all students.
Here are some key points and advice to help ensure the wellness of our students while also promoting regular school attendance:
Health Hygiene Practices:
Remind your child to practice good hygiene habits, such as frequent handwashing with soap and water.
Provide them with hand sanitizers to use when soap and water are not readily available.
Stay Informed:
Stay informed about prevalent illnesses in your community and follow any guidance or recommendations from local health authorities.
Keep an eye on your child's health and be proactive in addressing any symptoms or signs of illness.
Vaccinations:
Ensure that your child's vaccinations are up-to-date, as this is a crucial step in preventing the spread of certain illnesses.
Adequate Rest and Nutrition:
Encourage a healthy lifestyle by ensuring your child gets enough sleep and eats a balanced diet rich in vitamins and nutrients.
Communication with School:
If your child is unwell, please communicate with the school as soon as possible. This allows us to support your child's academic needs and helps prevent the potential spread of illness to others.
Make-Up Work and Support:
In the event that your child needs to miss school due to illness, we are committed to providing make-up work and additional support to help them catch up on missed lessons.
Prioritize Regular Attendance:
Regular school attendance is crucial for academic success. Students who attend consistently are better equipped to stay on track with the curriculum and engage in the learning process.
Additionally, Manara wishes to remind parents about the importance of following the school absence policies in the event your child does become ill. Illness is an excused absence from school when documented in some manner by the parent. Excessive illness will require documentation from a clinic or a doctor's note. Unexcused absences - undocumented absences can add up toward truancy. Even partial day absences count as truancy absences so we want our families to be informed about the state definition of truancy. This informational video can explain more about truancy as we balance that information with prioritizing your child's wellness.
We understand that each child's health needs are unique, and we are here to work collaboratively with you to ensure the well-being of all our students. Our primary goal is to create a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters both health and academic success.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to the health and education of your child along with the commitment to attendance. Be well Manara Families!
Sincerely,
Denise Sudan, Superintendent

Health Update
Good Morning Manara Families,
I hope this message finds you well and in good health. I am writing to inform you that we have a few reports of illness upon our return from break. Unfortunately, there has been an increase in the number of individuals testing positive for the Covid virus.
It is essential to prioritize the health and safety of our school community, and we want to keep you informed about any changes that may impact our daily operations and of course, primarily you and your health. It is optional, but students are allowed to mask if they should begin to feel symptomatic and are unsure if they're becoming ill or optionally mask as a form of prevention. Hand washing, hand sanitizing, masking, social distancing and staying home when ill continue to be our best forms of prevention with the spread of any illnesses during the months where illnesses are more prevalent.
As a precautionary step, we urge you to remain vigilant and adhere to recommended health guidelines. Please encourage your children to practice hand washing, and covering mouths when sneezing or coughing. Additionally, we ask that you monitor your child and family members who may exhibit symptoms or express concerns related to COVID-19.
If you haven't ordered your free at home Covid Test kits you may do so here:
If you don't have test kits available to you, you can search by zipcode of places that offer Covid Testing at no cost to you here:
Free COVID Testing Centers by ZipCode Search
We understand that this is a challenging time, and we appreciate your ongoing dedication to the well-being of our students and staff. If you or your child does become ill, follow the advice of your health care professional. The current recommendation is as follows:
If you test positive for COVID-19, stay home for at least 5 days and isolate yourself from others in your home.
You are likely most infectious during these first 5 days.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment. Take care everyone!
