4Q NEWS & NOTES
Morton Junior High School; March/April/May, 2024

It appears we can put the late starts and school cancellations in our rearview mirror as we head into the home stretch of the 2023-24 school year!
These past nine weeks were busy with many school activities. Our cheer and dance teams both competed in the state finals for the first time and did very well! The chess team also competed well in the Tazewell County Invitational and IESA state tournament. The 7th Grade volleyball team won 3rd Place in last weekend's state tournament. The 8th Grade volleyball team will compete in the state tournament starting at 7:00 on Friday in the Kiln. Camden Tarter finished in 6th Place in the wrestling state tournament, while Brody Watson made school history as our first wrestling state champion!
Sports weren't the only ones busy. Elf, Jr. was an amazing success, along with the band's Leap Day Concert and the choir and orchestra's solo and ensemble competitions. Last week, we also brought back our annual talent show, which was a big hit! We certainly have some wonderfully talented students!!
Students will be provided the opportunity to safely observe the solar eclipse on April 8.
In the coming weeks, scholastic bowl, bowling, and track & field will be in the heart of their seasons.
3rd Quarter grades are being finalized, and report cards will be emailed home this Friday afternoon.

💡 Reminders
5Essentials Survey Reminder
This is just a reminder about the 5Essentials survey we are required to give by the Illinois State Board of Education. For us to see the aggregate data from the survey, we must have a minimum of 20% of our families respond. Currently, we are at 18%. Please consider taking a few minutes to tell us what you think on this survey. (Once we hit 20%, I will stop bothering you all!)
