On Fridays the Sky Valley Youth Coalition has begun hosting Safe Stop here at SMS. Middle and High school students can come shoot hoops in the gym or play games in the commons. Join the team of volunteers to help out! Visit: bit.ly/SafeStopVolunteer to sign up!
SBAC Testing tentative dates are May 13th-31st. Prepare your students by ensuring they are:
- getting good sleep

- attending school daily
Thank you for your help in making this testing time successful!
Step Up Day is April 24th from 12:10-1:10pm. 5th graders from SES and GBE will come for a visit and learn about all SMS has to offer. Our 8th grade WEB leaders will help greet the kids and give them a tour. That evening is Step Up Night where parents and guardians are invited to come learn about what to expect for the upcoming year including sports, ASB, the AVID program, health room information, the music program, clubs, and any other questions you might have. TSA Science Club
On Wednesday, 10 TSA club members left for the Washington State TSA Conference in SeaTac to compete and show their skills and events they had been working tirelessly on for the last few months. Silently creeping their way up to semi-finals was Team Silent Film. With their killer investigation skills, Team Forensic Tech found their way to semi-finals as well, and with their phenomenal catwalk skills they showed off on the runway, Team Fashion Design, which includes Mabel Rainwater and Clara King, strutted their way into the semi-finals and into 3rd place in finals. Team Problem Solving, which includes James White and Mabel Rainwater, built their way to top 5 in finals. Team Biotech, which includes Weston Lavigueure, Evelynn Fricke, and Cami Hayer, researched their way to top 5 in finals. Team Leadership Strategies, which includes Chloe Goodwin, Andrea Serrano, and Cami Hayer, lead themselves to 3rd in finals, and Cami Hayer's prepared speech couldn't have possibly prepared her for placing 2nd in finals. Good job guys!
Tardiness Procedures
A quick reminder that if a student is tardy to school in the morning, he/she must report to the office and print off a tardy pass. School starts at 7:50 and any student arriving after that is considered tardy. Tardiness due to dental/doctor appointments with a parent note/call or late buses will be excused.
Unexcused tardies will result in the following consequences:
• At 5th tardy – Lunch held in the Student Success Center to review expectations.
• At 8th tardy –Two lunches held in the Student Success Center to review expectations.
• At 11th tardy – Four lunches held in the Student Success Center to review expectations and a parent meeting scheduled.
• At 14th tardy --Alternative passing schedule put in place to help facilitate arriving to class on time. This will be in place for the remainder of the quarter.
You can find this policy in the Student Handbook here: https://bit.ly/49rogSJ
