Family Update 4/26/2024
Message from the Principal
Hello Sagebrush Families,
We cannot wait to see you at our school dance, the Royal Ball, this evening. Please remember that students must be accompanied by an adult. Next Friday, May 3, there is no school for students. This is a day that we, as a staff, begin looking forward to next year and what classes will look like. Just a reminder that we do not accept parent requests for specific teachers. We work really hard to create balanced classes that will maximize student success. Also coming up is Field Day on May 9th. Please see the important information below about opportunities to help out that day. We cannot wait to see you at all the fun events as we wrap up the last month of school.

Music
Hello Sagebrush families!
With wrapping up the school year, many students are going to be focusing on upcoming performances while others will be building their instrument playing skills through major and minor modes of music. Our 5th grade will be continuing to work on their songs for continuation.
Kindergarten and 1st grade are practicing for their summer themed concert on May 10th at 8:10.
2nd through 4th grade will be focusing on building their reading and playing skills with the boom whackers, non-pitched percussion instruments, xylophones/metallophones, and many more.
This will be the perfect way to wrap up the 2023/2024 school year!

Physical Education (PE)
Every grade level is finishing up their racket sport units within the next few weeks. We have been working on Pickleball, Tennis, and Badminton. Everyone has really enjoyed these 3 different sports and learning how to use the different sized rackets.
Field day is approaching fast so look below for more information on how to sign up to volunteer and for information about the Color Rush theme for Field Day! If you are volunteering, we will have an identification badge for you to wear during the events.
Parents, you are welcome to come and watch/follow your students around during their scheduled field day slot. If you are planning on attending field day, please pre-register so we can make check in with staff as quick as possible (sign up coming soon). You'll get a sticker to show you are a parent or family of our students at our school.

Art
We are rounding out our year in the art room with Fantasy week. Students have been busy creating dragon eyes, gnome settings, medieval crests, rainbow unicorns, castles, and dragon nests. It is some of the best art I have seen this year. I will be sending home kids art in the next few weeks. Please be looking for these treasures.
I want to extend a sincere thank you to all the families that attended the Art Show and Open Mic Night. It was so good to see kids be excited about viewing their art and reading poetry. What a risk many of them took by getting up in front of an audience to share their writing. The event was well received and I think everyone enjoyed the scavenger hunt. We had over 30 kids participate in the Open Mic as well as the many kids who chose to put their artwork in the show. This is an event that I hope will continue at Sagebrush. It is no secret of my passion for children’s art. We have some of the most creative and artistic students and I have loved working with them.
Thinking back on my year, and knowing that my time with students is approaching an end, I want to let you all know how honored I have been to get to share an art experience with your child. I believe that the creative arts are incredibly important to the development of kids and can be used in just about anything. My hope is that Sagebrush students will take something positive away from being in the art room with me. I also hope that many will continue to take classes and explore new ways to express themselves through art. I know they will be in good hands as I move on. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to teach art at Sagebrush and work with such a wonderful group of kids. Thank you for sharing them with me.
And now on to the next chapter….
