Principal's Message
Spring is in the air, or at least one of Wisconsin's many false springs is in the air. In this edition you will find some import information and reminders for March. All items discussed have a section further down with more details. To start with, our lost and found is overflowing, take a look at the picture and if you see an item that belongs to your child, have them pick it up in the cafeteria as soon as possible. Just before Spring Break we will have our March Rec Night on March 15 and we will also be conducting the Math portion of the Forward exam on March 19th and 20th. One of our current focus areas is to make sure our students come to school with an iPad with a charge or at least 75%. This ensures the ipad and your child is reading for the day and can make it through the day. This will be incredibly important on the Forward testing days as the test is run through iPads. Lasty, spring clubs and athletics will be sharting up shortly, see link for details and get involved!
Let's make it a great March,
Kent Kleinowski
Horning Principal

Lost and Found

Student Supply Refresh
Second semester is underway and now is a great time to refresh your student's school supplies. Many kids run low on the items needed to be successful in the classroom this time of year. Pencils are one thing we see that are often gone by now and many students' binders are simply falling apart. Please check in with your child to see what he/she needs. Let's start the second semester strong and prepared for class!
Speaking of being prepared, all students at Horning are learning important organization skills, not only with their materials but with time as well. Student agendas serve as a place to record class and/or homework and important due dates. At Horning, agendas are also used as hall passes. If your child is without an agenda, please ensure he/she gets a new one. Replacements are available in the office for $5.
We appreciate your help in making sure your child has all the tools needed to be successful in the second half of the year. Horning teachers and administrators thank you!

Attendance and Electronics Reminders
Attendance:
Attendance is extremely important.
Our school wide expectation is that every student is arriving to their scheduled class on time prior to the start of class bell. This will ensure that active learning time is maximized and students are receiving the best learning environment possible.
Students have 3 minutes to transition from one class to the next. This time should be used to prepare for their upcoming class.
Students are able to access their lockers before school, before lunch, after lunch, and at the end of the school day. Students should be utilizing these opportunities to prepare themselves for their early/late classes.
Please do your best to make sure that your technology (iPad) is charged and ready to go at the start of the day. This will ensure classroom time is maximized for learning.
Cell Phone:
The School District of Waukesha has in place a cell phone policy that requires cell phones to be placed in their locker upon entering the school building. The phone should be turned off and left in their locker until they leave at the end of the school day.
Thank you all for helping support us in a successful school year. Working together we can accomplish great things.
