School Registration 2024-25 - Last call!
We are asking all returning families to complete online registration for 2024-25 by tomorrow, April 30. Families yet to register were sent a reminder message with login instructions earlier today. Please contact Dave Huber at huber@ogschool.org with questions.
Spring Testing
Aimsweb testing began today. Aimsweb screens students for reading and math difficulty. i-Ready diagnostic testing begins on May 6. All students will need headphones and a charged device for testing.
SEL Lessons in Grades 5-8
Last week, our mental health team and teachers teamed up to deliver important lessons to our grades 5-8 students. The lesson was the first part of a series of lessons called “Words Can Hurt, Help and Heal” taken from the Anti-Defamation League teaching resources. Students engaged in conversations with their teachers and classmates about hurtful language and the impact of our words. Ask your child what he or she learned. The next lessons will be delivered over the next few weeks.

Band News
The deadline to sign up for the Music Man field trip is Friday at 9 a.m. Spring Concerts start next Tuesday. Please see our web page for dates and links.
Parent Session - Gifted Services
Join us virtually tonight from 6:30 - 7:30 pm to learn about services for gifted learners and updates to our talented & gifted courses offered in grades 4-8. This session applies to families of students of all ages. If you plan to attend, RSVP here and a Google Meet link will be emailed to you. Information shared this evening will be similar to the Board of Education presentation that was shared on April 23, however, there will be an opportunity to ask questions. This session will also be recorded and shared in next week’s Oak Grove News.
Staff Appreciation Week
The week of May 6 is staff appreciation week. We’re looking to kick off the week by having our teachers build a bouquet to let them know that “if teachers were flowers, we would have picked you!” On Monday, May 6, if you would like to donate loose flowers to create the bouquets, please bring them to school anytime from 7:35 am - 2:45 pm. There will be drop-off stations during morning arrival, as well as at the main office throughout the day
Parent/Child Monarch Award Activity Night
Mrs. Rappaport and Mrs. Wesley are hosting a K - 3rd grade activity night with award winning books on Wednesday, May 15 from 4:30 - 6:00 pm in the PD Room. Activities include crafts, wordplay, scavenger hunt, and other fun things. If interested, please sign up to participate by Friday, May 10.
Field Day is Friday, May 24 - Rain or Shine!
Volunteers are still needed from 8:30 - 11:00 am. It is also a 1:00 pm early dismissal day. Grab a friend and sign up for a station that sounds fun. Please feel free to email Karin Pawlowski or Laura Reutzel with any questions.
4/29/24 OGS Honda Art Show
Congratulations to these Oak Grove Students on being selected for the 2024 OGS Honda Art Show!
We will celebrate your accomplishments by having an opening reception on Thursday, May 2 from 6-7:30 pm. The Artwork will remain hanging on the walls of Honda of Libertyville for an entire year. If you are unable to attend the reception, you can stop by anytime during Honda business hours.
If you are able to volunteer to help hang the art we will be doing so on Tuesday, April 30 from 9 am-Noon at Honda of Libertyville. Please let Mrs. Vance know via email if you can volunteer some time to set up.

PTO Meeting This Week on Wednesday, May 1, at 9:30 am in the Jr High Library and on Zoom. Please review the agenda and minutes before the meeting. The Zoom link will be shared by email on Tuesday.
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10. Please encourage your child(ren) to write a note or draw a picture for their teacher(s) or they could complete this fill-in page.
4th and 5th Grade Social will be at SkyZone on May 9, 1:30-3 pm. Students will have the facility to themselves for up to 200 students. An adult must remain on site, but the adult is allowed to supervise a group. Sign-up and waiver are available to be completed now! Contact Beth with any questions.
Variety Show Tickets are now on sale This year’s theme is OGPalooza. There will be two shows on Friday, May 10 at 4:30 pm (including teacher act) and 7 pm. Get your tickets now on the PTO Website.
The K-8 Spring BOGO book fair is coming to OGS May 13-16 and we’re looking for volunteers. If you’re interested in helping, please sign up here (scroll down and add your name to either Book Fair) and stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
Kona Ice Truck is returning to Oak Grove on May 23. We are looking for volunteers to help us oversee the event. Sign up to volunteer here.
EPI Pre-Pack School Supplies Ordering is now available for the ‘24-’25 school year. See the flier here for ordering instructions. Oak Grove Summer Camps
Summer Camp classes will be offered at Oak Grove by several OG teachers in June and July. Go to the RevTrak online store and select Student Summer Camps to register. The deadline for registration has been extended to May 6.
