Principal of Barack Obama Elementary
March 15, 2024
Greetings,
This month our 4th and 5th grade students will receive Anti-bullying and conflict resolution training facilitated by the Diversity Center of Cleveland. "These programs empower thousands of youth and youth serving professionals to build school environments that promote respect, acceptance, and inclusion. Students who participate in our programs learn how to become leaders and positive change agents in their schools and communities." - Diversity Center
Barack Obama now has morning announcers! Students were able to audition. Sixteen students auditioned and the following students were chosen: Jeremiah Isom, Brooklynn Hardy, Kalynn Winston, Aarynae Talton, Marcus Chisholm, Kaiya Johnson, Ava Craig, Royale Swift, George Basile, and Arszelice Wolford.
Please update Final Forms so that we will have the most up to date information (i.e. phone, email, address, emergency contacts.) https://mapleheights-oh.finalforms.com/ Make sure to sign at the very end of the document.
Dismissal: Dismissal begins at 3:00 p.m., Any student who is a car rider must be picked up in the loop at the back of the building. Parents/Guardians may arrive as early as 2:30 to park in the loop. We are working with Lincoln and JFK to ensure a smooth pick up. The front of the building is reserved for School Buses and Day Care Providers.
Visitors & Guests: We are also implementing new procedures for our guests and visitors to the building. When you arrive at the main entrance of the building, visitors will press the buzzer to gain entrance into the main office. Guests/visitors who visit classrooms or provide services will have their IDs scanned to create a visitors pass. All of this is to ensure the safety of our students and staff. As a reminder, photo IDs are required when signing students out for the day before 2:45 p.m.
Meetings: We understand that your time is valuable, to ensure that we are able to meet your family’s needs, schedule a meeting with Dr. Hughley (Principal) 24 hours in advance. We will make every effort to meet and/or return calls between 48 to 72 hours.

Invested - Ask for help when needed!
Determined - Set goals and write down what steps need to be taken in order to reach them!
