From the desk of Mrs. Humphries
We have 24 days to make an impact in the lives of our students! When visiting classrooms, Mrs. Klein and I are seeing students working hard in their classrooms to reach their goals. We began the ILEARN assessment on April 15th, and we are proud of our students showing us what they have learned. Thank you for encouraging your child to put forth their personal best and making sure that they attend school every day.
We had a wonderful event yesterday. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in our High Ability classrooms participated in our school’s High Ability Showcase. All of our students worked really hard, and it was wonderful to see families come out to support them. Our students were able to shine by demonstrating how they collaborated with their peers, and demonstrated their knowledge of their projects through their presentations.
Kindergarten Round-up April 25th
We are so excited to host our Kindergarten round-up. Our event will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Please enter through door 14. (back of the building)
Dress Code
The weather is starting to get warmer. A gentle reminder about our dress code policy. Please keep the following in mind and discuss with your child:
Students are allowed to wear shorts (fingertip length or longer) or slacks. Students may not wear short-shorts nor tight bicycle shorts
Midriff, halter, tank or spaghetti strapped tops are not allowed. All straps must be 4 fingers wide. Tank tops with large armholes may be worn if another T-Shirt is worn underneath.
Undergarments are not to be visible. Shirts should completely cover students’ midsections, both front and back.
We are happy to announce a new way to recognize our amazing staff here in Decatur Township. The Vision of the MSD of Decatur Township is “Preparing Students to be Tomorrow Ready.” The “Tomorrow Ready” Award will recognize staff members (nominated by peers, supervisors, parents, or community members) who exemplify our beliefs of equity, teamwork, and excellence, going above and beyond to positively impact our schools and students.
Nominations for the “Tomorrow Ready” awards can be submitted through this Google Form: Tomorrow Ready Staff Awards
District Administration will select 1-2 nominations per month to be recognized at the MSD Decatur School Board of Education monthly meetings.
Assistant Principal's Week!

Conner Prairie
4th grade students were finally able to attend their field trip to Conner Prairie today after getting rained out last week. They all had a great time and represented Gold Academy well!
Meet Mr. Pork Chop
Thank you to Mrs. Rouse for decorating over 30 milk jugs for our Penny Wars! Mr. Pork Chop is filling up quickly in the office!
Ronald McDonald House - Pop Tabs
We now have a collection container in the main lobby to collect pop tabs! Thank you Mr. Riester, for bringing the vision to life!
Collected pop tabs are recycled, generating much-needed funds to support the House and the thousands of families they serve each year. Plus, it’s a great way to introduce philanthropy to young people, especially in school environments!
Thanks to generous school children, families, businesses, clubs, and churches, over one billion pop tabs have been donated since the program’s inception in 1995, generating tens of thousands of dollars in pop tab revenue for the House.
Teacher Appreciation Week - May 6th - May 10th
