MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Atkinson families,
The district recently sent out THIS MESSAGE about important calendar updates. If you did not receive it, and you would like to be added to these district messages, please reach out to Katie in the office (kcarriker@pps.net). Important highlights from the message include:
- The last day of school will remain June 14 for K–11th grade students.
- Next year our bell schedule will be changing: students will start at 8 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m.
- Next year's district calendars are available HERE.
- If you will need before and/or aftercare next year due to the changing start and end times, here is the link for CHAMPIONS.

SPRING BREAK AND UPCOMING NO SCHOOL DAYS
Next week is spring break so there is no school. We hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing break!
School resumes on Monday, April 1. The week of April 1–4 is SPIRIT WEEK (see details below). Students do NOT have school on Friday, April 5, as that is a teacher planning day.

Middle School Transition Information - Kellogg Middle School
- Student Visit: Students will be visiting Kellogg Middle School on Thursday, April 11 from 9:45–11:00 a.m.
- Parent Night: Please see the attached SAVE THE DATE postcards that Kellogg is mailing to all incoming families (please note there is a typo in the date — the event is TUESDAY, APRIL 23). There is also a SLIDE DECK with information on Kellogg and elective classes.

SPIRIT WEEK - APRIL 1-4, 2024
PARKROSE STUDENT HEALTH CENTER OPEN DURING SPRING BREAK
Parkrose Student Health Center will remain open for spring break. All the other health centers will be closed.
If you have a health issue or need to continue your care, you can get the same services as when schools are open. This includes sports physicals, school immunizations well Child/Teen checks, COVID-19 and flu vaccines and boosters. Open to all Multnomah County youth ages 5–18. You don't need to attend Parkrose High School to receive services. No out-of-pocket costs. Same-day appointments may be available. Visit in-person, by phone, or video. LUNCH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AFTER SPRING BREAK
We are in need of new parent volunteers to serve lunch to students on Thursdays for both first lunch (11:35 a.m.–12 p.m.) and second lunch (12:05–12:30 p.m.) after spring break. Are you willing and able to help us? You get a free lunch and get to see all the adorable children in the lunch line!
NEW SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING CURRICULUM (REPEAT FROM LAST WEEK)
In the next couple of weeks, Atkinson staff will be selecting a new Social Emotional Learning Curriculum for next year. Two programs have been approved and staff will be selecting one to implement next year. You can read about them HERE. You can add your voice by completing this survey:
BELMONT PUBLIC LIBRARY PROJECT
There are some upcoming community activities for the Belmont Library project:
- Public voting for Belmont Library's interior color will be underway from Monday, April 1–15. Folks will be able to vote in person at Belmont Library and online.
- They will also be hosting an open house on Thursday, April 11 from 5–7 p.m. with the design team to share updates about the project and encourage people to vote.
