Solar Eclipse - April 8
On April 8, 2024, we will have the opportunity to experience one of nature’s grandest spectacles: a solar eclipse. All students will have the opportunity to observe the eclipse under the supervision of staff. Read this letter for details and information about opting your child(ren) out, if you choose.
Rotations Offerings for the 24/25 SY
Each 5th through 7th grade student has the opportunity to choose their preferred rotations classes for the coming year. Students will make their selections during rotations class the week of April 8. It would be beneficial to review some of the resources below in preparation for their selection. Our rotations teachers will review this information to help ensure students are informed.

Class Placement: Family Input
We will soon begin to build classes for the 2024-2025 school year. We welcome family involvement in this process. We invite you to complete THIS form.
Multicultural Fair-Booths Needed!
The Multicultural Fair will be on Saturday, April 20 from 3:30 - 6:30 pm. It is an opportunity to learn about the many countries and cultures represented at Oak Grove School. We are looking for families to host a booth and share their customs. If you are interested in hosting a booth that represents a country, please complete this form by Friday, April 5.
Spanish Storytelling
Attention all 2nd-5th grade parents: We hope your child can join Señora Mann and Señora Pittam for a fun, Spanish storytelling experience! Students will create an original story with direction from the teachers. Students learn the story with various activities to show comprehension. For more information and to sign up please click here.

IAR Testing
The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR), a state-mandated assessment for 3rd through 8th grade students, will take place this year on April 11, 12, and 16 and makeup testing will be on April 17-19.
Students will need working headphones and a charged iPad/laptop
Students may not have cell phones, Apple watches, etc. during the testing periods
Students should eat a good breakfast and have a good night’s sleep

Track & Field
Track will begin April 3, 2024. Please meet the coaches in the JH cafeteria. There are no tryouts. If you’re a 6th - 8th grade student who wants to participate and hasn't already paid an athletic fee for the year, pay here: https://ogs.revtrak.net/

PTO Meeting This Week on Wednesday, April 3, at 6:00 pm in the PD Room. Please review the agenda, minutes, and proxy vote in advance.

Kindergarten-1st Grade Social is happening at Ultimate Ninjas on April 5 from 6:00-7:30 pm. Sign your student up here.
Happy Little Flame candles will be for sale from April 8 through April 19 for our last fundraiser of the year. Details to come.
Stepping Up to 6th Grade is taking place Wednesday, April 17, at 6:30 pm. 5th grade parents and students are invited to learn more about middle school. Students can attend breakout sessions with licensed counselors. More details to come.
Wednesday, April 3 during JH lunch is the last day to sign up for the Variety Show auditions! See the PTO website for more information. The PTO’s annual Variety Show “OGPalooza” will be on May 10 at 4:30 and 7:00 pm.
Earth Day is this month. Show your OGS pride and join us on Saturday, April 20 between 10-11:30 am to clean up the school grounds. We’ll also “chalk the walk” with Earth-friendly messages.
Marla’s Lunch has removed 2 menu items from the Panera menu for the remainder of the school year due to a nationwide corporate price increase that prices the items out of a reasonable value window. Marla will reach out if your order needs to be adjusted.
4th and 5th Grade Social will be at SkyZone on May 9, 1:30-3 pm. Students will have the facility to themselves for up to 200 students. An adult must remain on site, but the adult is allowed to supervise a group. Sign-up and waiver are available to be completed now. Contact Beth with any questions.
Parent Session - Gifted Services
Join us virtually on April 29 from 6:30 - 7:30 pm to learn about services for gifted learners and updates to our talented & gifted courses offered in grades 4-8. This session applies to families of students of all ages. If you plan to attend, RSVP here. A Google Meet link will be shared closer to the date.
Oak Grove Summer Camp
Summer Camp classes will be offered at Oak Grove by several OG teachers in June and July. Go to the RevTrak online store and select Student Summer Camps to register. The deadline for registration is April 30.
Special Education Meeting
Oak Grove School will host a virtual special education meeting on Monday, April 22 at 8:30 am. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the District’s plan to provide special education services to students with disabilities who attend private schools and/or are homeschooled for the 2024-2025 school year. Any parent of a student who has been identified with a disability and attends a private school and/or is homeschooled is encouraged to participate.
