Eye on FISD
March 8, 2024
From Dr. Gilstrap
Spring break is here! I hope that our Floresville students and families get to relax, have fun, and enjoy a safe break.
Our students have been busy this spring semester, and I could not be more proud of all their achievements. It is great to see families and community members at our school events cheering for our students. Thank you for your support.
During this time of year, I ask that our community continues to help keep our schools safe. Our staff and students have done a great job following our safety and security protocols, but we need everyone’s help to ensure a safe teaching and learning environment for all. Please report any concerns you may have. If you see something, say something.
Happy spring break!

Look who's Floresville Fab!
Margarita Rodríguez
Teacher at FNE
Destiny Gonzales
Receptionist at FSE
Tara Poerner
Teacher at FHS
Margarita Rodríguez was nominated by her colleague Ashton Barrett: Mrs. Rodríguez builds beautiful report with each of her students. The student some may find difficult is the student she is able to empathize with, helping that student reach his/her potential. She is one who brings beauty back into the classroom for all kids. The planning that she does helps reach every single student in the classroom. She encourages everyone around her and reminds us all why we became teachers. She is such a blessing to me and all who know her. I’m honored to have her as a team member and friend.
Destiny Gonzales was nominated by Kasie Meyer, FSE Assistant Principal: Destiny always goes above and beyond for our campus. There was recently an incident on campus and due to Destiny's vigilance and attention to detail, we were able to address a possibly dangerous situation very quickly. We all feel very lucky and blessed to have her on our campus everyday, but especially on this day.
Tara Poerner was nominated by her colleague Cassi Korzekwa: This is Mrs. Poerner’s 1st year at FHS. She is not only an alumni of FHS, but an alumni of the Floresville FFA program. She is the Teacher Leader for the FFA Broadcasting Team, among others, and the team received the Area Champs title at competition, advancing to State! What an accomplishment to work and build relationships with students so strong that everyone did amazing to get that #1 spot! First year as a teacher here at FHS and already getting that #1 title! So excited to see how far they go!
