CELEBRATIONS
Great things are happening at WCS!
This week we were thrilled to welcome parents and guardians into the classroom for conferences, to share and learn about how the year is going at WCS, and at home. Child Rights activist, Marian Wright Edelman once said, "Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it." This is especially true when families and schools work together to support students!

LINES FROM THE LIBRARY
MHS SCLC MAINSAIL NOMINATIONS
The Morse High School School Community Liaison Council (SCLC) has opened nominations for The Mainsail Award, which the SCLC has awarded since 1980. The Mainsail Award recognizes people who have made outstanding contributions to benefit the youth of the greater Bath community. In addition, nominees should exemplify the ideals of American citizenship such as respect, honesty, justice, individual freedom, and equal opportunity.
The nominee should have made a major contribution to the youth of the school district, though it may extend to the wider community, state, or nation. The individual should be a current or past resident of the greater Bath area. The Mainsail Award will be presented this year in a manner still to be determined!
Current Morse students, current SCLC community members, and current RSU1 employees are not eligible for the award. The SCLC gives preference to individuals (as opposed to a single nomination for a husband and wife, for example) and to Morse High School alumni. However, a joint award could be considered. The SCLC thoroughly reviews all applications and meets the challenge of selecting a recipient for the award with a sense of gravity and honor.
The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
Direct questions to Kelsey Ortiz (kortiz@rsu1.org), SCLC Advisor.

PTA NEWS
🌈Eat the Rainbow Week is coming up April 8-12! "Eat the Rainbow" is a school-wide program to help kids try new fruits and vegetables, in every color of the rainbow! The PTA provides volunteer support for this by spending a few hours each day cutting fruits and vegetables and putting them on trays to deliver to each WCS classroom. It is a great way to get to know some other parents at WCS, while helping kids try some new things! If you would like to sign up for one or more Eat the Rainbow time slots, please visit our SignUp Genius here:

We will be hosting our annual PTA Spring Cleanup Day on April 27th this year (rain date of May 4th) from 9-12! We will be working on cleaning up garden beds around the front of the school, mowing and weedwacking, and some outdoor classroom projects. This is a kid-friendly event that is a great way to meet some new Woolwich families and help out our school. Please bring gardening gloves, rakes, and shovels if you have them- we will have extras, and also will provide snacks and drinks! Sign up here for reminders:
