Message from Mr. Imbusch
Dear students, staff, and parents/guardians:
This NY Times article by Jancee Dunn started my day on a lighter note. I guess that was the point of the article! Read this portion, for example, and tell me the video clip doesn’t bring a smile to your face:
“Young children tend to coach themselves out loud, a practice known as private speech (such as this popular clip from a 4-year-old snowboarder).
Toddlers aren’t shy about self-talk, Dr. Merali said, and you shouldn’t be, either. Research suggests that for adults, positive self-talk can help with problem-solving, learning, confidence and managing your emotions.”
Finally, don't miss out on the L.I.T. Program starting this Monday. See next story for more info.
Have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day weekend.
Sincerely,
Stephen Imbusch
Principal
Love, Inclusion, and Trust (L.I.T)
Greetings Parents & Students!
I am excited to offer the LIT ( Love, Inclusion and Trust) program, a series of workshops and discussions for middle and high school students that aim to highlight identity development, student leadership, build self-confidence, and provide advocacy skills. Because this is being offered to both Boston and resident students, our goal is to provide them with a safe space to build relationships amongst their peers as we continue to strengthen the Walpole School Community.
The LIT program for young scholars is presented by Jamele Adams. Scholars of middle and high school levels will engage in workshops and discussions that build self-esteem and community pride. This program will be held at the designated middle school from 2:35-3:30 pm and at the high school from 2:10-3:00 pm on the days listed below.
This Google Form can be used by high school students to sign up.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

As you know the MCAS test is an important benchmark in earning a high school diploma. English and Math teachers have been preparing students for success throughout this school year.
It is extremely important that students are present and on time to school on MCAS testing days. It is also essential that students bring on testing day a fully charged chromebook fully charged. If your student is experiencing any problems with their chromebook or are currently not using their assigned chromebook please follow up with IT here at WHS.
Dates for the testing are as follows:
English Language Arts --- Tuesday, March 26th & Wednesday, March 27th
Mathematics ---- Tuesday, May 21st & Wednesday, May 22nd
Should students wish to prepare for MCAS testing beyond classroom instruction, they can find Support Materials linked here.
Please see your School Counselor if you have any questions related to MCAS testing.

News from the World Language Department March 2024
The World Language Department is offering students the opportunity to earn the Massachusetts Seal of Biliteracy. The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by a school
or district in recognition of students who have attained proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in two or more languages by high school graduation.
The Seal is awarded at two proficiency levels and can be used to communicate with academic institutions, employers, and the community that students are able to study, work, and engage with others in two or more languages. Students who meet the criteria for the Seal of Biliteracy will receive an insignia provided by the Department of Education to be affixed to their high school transcript. An application is available for juniors with testing dates in April. Interested students can talk to their World Language teacher or see Ms. Kay (room 1321 inside the language lab) to receive an application.

The Photography Club meets weekly after school and picks a different theme each week.
