Adjusted Lunch Times: No Lunch Visitors during STAAR (4/16 & 4/ 23 -4/26)
The 5th Grade Science STAAR test is Tuesday, April 16th. There are a few lunch, recess and Specials schedules that have been adjusted due to the STAAR testing day. Unfortunately, visitors are not permitted on campus on those days. Therefore, we will not allow lunch visitors inside the building on Tuesday, April 16th. If you come to eat with your child, you will need to check them out and have lunch with them at the front picnic tables and check them back in after lunch.
Thank you for understanding.
Congratulations to Ms. Hall!
Summerwood Elementary's Assistant Principal, Gayle Hall, has been named Principal of Humble ISD's Eagle Springs Elementary for the 2024-2025 school year. She will only be a short distance away, but we sure will miss her! Congratulations!!!
Ms. Shirey's Class at a Dash Game!
Ms. Shirey and her kindergarten class were invited to attend the Dash Game on Friday night. Dash saw one of Ms. Shirey's social media posts about her women's soccer project that her students were working on. Her class, their families and other staff members received free tickets to attend Friday night's game. It was so fun to hang out with the students and their families at the Dash game! What an awesome opportunity! Here is a photo a few that attended. They had a blast!

Attendance Incentive
SWE's attendance goal for our campus is to have at least 96.4% of our students attend school daily. On April 22, we will begin an attendance incentive for all students. Each day a student attends school and is present at the offical attendance time (9:55 AM), they will receive a ticket that they can turn in for an opportunity to win one of the raffle prizes. The raffle will be held on May 30th.
We understand students have to be out sometimes. Students get sick and family emergencies happen. We get it! The incentive is not to punish students. It is an incentive to motivate students to come to school when they are well.
If your child is absent from school, please report the absence by filling out the Attendance Form (also located on SWE website), emailing stephanie.cruz@humbleisd.net or calling the Absence Line at 281-641-3019 within 48 hours. Signed notes from parents/guardians or an excuse note from a medical facility are accepted in the front office. Your child can drop off the note when he or she returns to school. If your child leaves to attend a medical appointment and returns the same day with a doctor's note, it does not count as an absence.
TEA requires students to attend school 90% of the school days to meet requirements for promotion to the next grade level.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Message from the SWE PTO
Happy Sunday SWE Stars!!!
I hope you have all had an amazing weekend. Thank you all so much for everything you have done throughout the year to support the PTO and Summerwood Elementary. We have a flurry of events we will be supporting for the staff & students for the last few weeks of the year. From STAAR snacks that were provided by the PTO for all students and staff members during the STAAR testing that started last week and continues for grades 3-5 until April 26th to Kinder Roundup. SWE Super Kids Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, 5th Grade Manners Banquet, & our final Pay 2 Play of the year. Be on the lookout for communication around volunteer opportunities for these events.
We will also be holding our final PTO meeting of the year in May where officers and coordinators will be voted in for the 2024-25. Volunteers Needed for Super Kids Day: Friday, May 3rd
Super Kids Day is just around the corner! If you would like to volunteer for this event, please use the
New Elementary District Communication System: Rooms
On April 4th, Humble ISD emailed a Rooms invite to guardians of students in grades PreK through 4th grade. A Rooms Support link for parents has been added to the SWE campus website menu under the Students & Families column.
What is Rooms?
Rooms is a new parent-teacher communication platform for elementary campuses.
From work, to home, to school, mobile devices have become a key tool to navigate and communicate throughout the day. The Humble ISD mobile app allows families to stay up to date with campus and district news and events. Now, our Humble ISD mobile app makes it easier for elementary families to stay connected with teachers and class information right in the Humble ISD app!
With Rooms, parents are able to:
View each elementary student's class information, including announcements and materials.
Engage directly with teachers in two-way messaging.
Keep all communication in one convenient location ~ the Humble ISD mobile app!
