Principals' Message
Hello, Lyman Bulldogs & our Lyman Families!
February and March are busy times here at Lyman. Students are choosing classes for next year (Yes, we are already starting to put the schedule together for the 2024-25 academic school year!) This is a very exciting time of year.
Please keep an eye on our webpage, Facebook, Instagram account and emails for upcoming events and opportunities. Hopefully you will be joining us on Wednesday, February 28th at 6:00 pm. for our Evening with the Arts. I am really looking forward to the evening. As a reminder, do not forget to purchase tickets for Disney's The Little Mermaid drama production for March 8, 9 & 10. In addition, if you are interested in a night out with pasta, good people, and great conversation, consider joining us for the Pasta Dinner on Friday, March 15th. The event is sponsored by the Baseball team.
Friday, March 1st is no school for students. Staff will participate in a full day of professional development.
Remember, Mr. Apicelli and I have open doors. Please call, email or come in for a conversation.
Be well,
Mrs. Mike, Assistant Principal

Resources for Families:
Here are three resources that you may find useful for our students and families:
AG "Happenings"
Last week Ag Science students and members of the Lebanon Regional FFA Chapter celebrated National FFA week. Each day of the week had a different theme for the students to show off their spirit, Monday: Merica Monday, Tuesday: Camo day, Wednesday: official dress/chapter t-shirt day, Thursday: Brand Day, Friday: color wars day.
On Monday students went to the elementary school and worked with several classes to make paracord lanyards, and write letters of thanks to soldiers through Operation Gratitude. The lanyards and letters will be sent to soldiers to have on hand for a variety of emergency uses. Elementary school students also participated in our chapter coloring contest. Tuesday was snowed out, but we had plans to serve lunch at the Lebanon senior center and help out at the Jonathan Trumbull library. It was also the day our chapter members were going to compete in public speaking. This has been rescheduled to Tuesday March 5th. Wednesday we also suffered from weather delays and had to cancel our Farmer Appreciation Field trips to Blue Slope Museums and Baldi Landscaping. We hosted our annual teacher luncheon. We served waffles on a stick with all the fixings and fresh fruit. In the afternoon students made no sew pet beds for the Ct humane society. On Thursday we crafted for community service! Several students got to use sewing machines for the first time to make reusable bags from empty animal grain bags. The bags were then filled with personal hygiene products to be donated to local needs here in Lebanon. During X- Block we celebrated our freshman FFA greenhands and held our kiss an animal contest where Ms. Burton kissed our steer Bowie. On Friday we ended the week with Ag Olympic games in the shop. Students competed in hay bale throwing, three legged race, patio jenga, corn hole, milking Gertrude and more. Kaden Sorits and Matt Dubicki were the official winners of 3 legged race and hay bale toss! Thanks to all who participated and supported!
Nurse's Page:
A highly contagious norovirus is wreaking havoc through the entire northeast! As of February 21st, over 15% of the New England population has tested positive, with gastrointestinal symptoms of nausea, lack of appetite, cramping, diarrhea & vomiting. Prevention starts at staying home while you are actively sick plus 24 hours after symptoms stop. Limit sharing food & drinks and wash hands with soap and water as often as possible, as many viruses are becoming sanitizer resistant. The greatest concerns are dehydration and low blood sugar. No matter how sick you feel, you MUST replace fluids primarily through water. Juice is good in moderation, especially if you're struggling to eat. BRAT diet (aka bananas, rice, applesauce and toast) and similar low fiber, easy to digest foods are recommended during active illness. The illness in completely treatable at home, but do not hesitate to reach out to your student's primary care doctor if they become ill, as they may want to have them tested and can provide documentation excusing them from school.
Also REMINDER!!! The state of Connecticut requires all students in the 10th grade to show proof of a health assessment completed anytime between January 2023 and June 2024. The student will not be allowed to return to school until the health office has documentation of a completed physical within that time frame. If you are concerned with your student's compliance, please feel free to call me at 860-642-7673 or email at madison.doucettte@lebanonct.org.
Winter Dance - The Roaring 20's
On Friday, February 9th we held a Winter Dance with the theme of the Roaring 20's. Everyone enjoyed an evening of dancing and good conversation with friends. Enjoy the pictures:
Vendor Fair
Our vendor fair held on Saturday February 10th was a huge success.
FFA Week
The Agricultural Science Department, in celebrating FFA week, asked a question a day, and everyone who answered each day's question correctly was entered into a drawing for a prize bag which included snacks and a chapter T-shirt.
