JTE Parent Newsletter

Tiger Families,
We have had another great week of learning and celebrations at JTESOI. We celebrated our SFLP parents for completing a year of learning with Mrs. Grover. We greatly appreciate each of them. During the school board meeting, Mrs. Mount and Mrs. Keen were recognized for their years of service and upcoming retirement and Mrs. Morris was recognized for being our Teacher of the Year. We had a wonderful Kindergarten celebration and they performed the sweetest songs! We had approximately 40 former Tigers come walk our halls for our annual Senior Walk. It was so wonderful to see them and our visitors to help honor and celebrate the 2025 Seniors. We ended our week with a fun Racing to Success Testing Celebration! We appreciate our PTA, parent donations and volunteers, and staff for helping to celebrate our students for their great work! Next week is our last week of school with many fun activities planned. Enjoy your last week of school, Tigers!
Just a reminder…
Students may not have access to cell phones or smart watches with a texting/calling feature during school hours. If students bring a cell phone or smart watch with a texting/calling feature, it must remain in their backpack and on silent. We are not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones or smart watches.
JTE is a WONDERful place to be! Go, Tigers!
Thank you for your partnership,
Dr. Shelly R. Poage, Principal, and Mrs. Ashley Kirby, Assistant Principal

JTE Character Matrix
JTE will use a Positive Behavior Interventions and Support System. We have created positively stated expectations/rules across the school to make our school safe, positive, and predictable. At John Tyson Elementary School, our student expectations are "Take care of yourself," "Take care of others," and "Take care of this place." To teach these expectations, we use a matrix that has specific examples for how to follow the expectations around the school. These examples were taught through classroom lessons in the fall and continue to be reviewed throughout the year. You can see the matrix below. In order to continue encouraging and reinforcing these positive behaviors, Tigers have been earning orange Tiger Tickets when they exhibit these behaviors. Each month, beginning in September, we will be opening our Tiger Ticket Store where students can exchange the tickets they have earned for fun prizes and experiences.
