Prom
Prom was Friday, April 19th at the Grand Rapids Public Museum. Activities included museum exhibits, two planetarium shows, dancing, drinks, snacks & desserts. 30 Staff members and their spouses helped chaperone!
State Solo and Ensemble
The high school choir program attended State Solo and Ensemble this past Saturday, April 20th, at Allendale High School.
Both Honors and Select Choirs did very well. Select Choir received a rating of a one, and Honors Choir received a rating of a high two, only two points away from a one.
Ten soloists attended this event and nine soloists received one ratings.
Every student worked very hard on their own and as a group. This event takes countless hours of preparation and individual work. We could not be prouder!

Fundraiser
Pine Street Student Council members held a fundraiser to support the Country Cat Lady. Students collected food, treats, and toys. Great work!
Preschool Field Trip to Swisslane Dairy Farm
Book Tasting
Students in Mrs. Boyce's 4th grade ELA class had a chance to have a “book tasting” on April 25th to preview biographies they could explore for their end of the year project. Students will choose a book for their project next week.
Administrative Professionals Day
Deb Merchant and Christine Doupe, secretaries from Pine Street Elementary, were showered with love and appreciation for Administrative Professionals Day.
Continuing Athletic Careers
Wayland Athletics would like to congratulate Austin Bouma and Carter Bender for signing their Letter of Intent to play Soccer at Grand Rapids Community College, and Kaharrie Pureifoy on signing his letter of intent to run track at Davenport University! Way to go!
Guest Speaker
Mrs. Madalon Veenstra, district social worker and WUS alumni, spoke to Mrs. Andrea Brown's Sociology class about her world travels and her semester studying abroad in Ghana, Africa. Her presentation allowed students to explore cultural universals and see the world from a different perspective. Madalon was a student in Andrea's Sociology class in 2012 and recalled, " I remember sitting in Sociology and having the guest speakers come in and how helpful it was for me. I really think it's where the world was opened up for me."
