Student Council Award
SMS Student Council members attended the state convention on Friday, March 1st. In addition to participating in valuable sessions and fun activities, the council also earned a gold council award for the club's work during the 2022-2023 school year.
The council also earned the Kids Caring and Sharing award from Riley Hospital for raising the most money per student last school year. Current president, Hadley Barton-Smith is pictured receiving the award from IASC President Aiden Sirk.

Sources of Strength
The Sources of Strength adults and peer leaders are meeting on on March 7th from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Students will be ready to be picked up at door #1 at 4:00.
Swifties
The Swifties are meeting on Tuesday, March 5th from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Students will be ready to be picked up at door #1 at 4:00.
SMS Shoutouts
We've had an excellent response to the SMS Shoutouts. We encourage students, faculty, and staff to continue submitting positive items to be considered for display on the Warrior Window.
The Google form to submit shoutouts is linked on the SMS Community page in Canvas.
All approved shoutouts are displayed on the Warrior Window.
Spring Dance
The SMS spring dance is Friday, March 15th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
The cost is $3 per student. School rules (including dress code and phone possession/use) apply.
Students must have their lanyard in order to enter the dance.
Drop off for 6th and 7th graders is at door #11. Drop off for 8th graders is at door #7.
Pick up for 6th and 7th graders is at door #11. Pick up for any cars with an 8th grader is at door #1.
In order to be eligible to attend the dance, students must be at school all day on the day of the dance and must not have earned 2 or more demerits for aggressive or illegal behavior since Monday, November 20th.
Yearbooks on Sale
SMS yearbooks for the 2023-2024 school year are on sale for $17 until April 1st.
You can order a yearbook by visiting https://inter-state.com/YearbookEntry/82507K or by using a paper order form that is available in the office to pay by cash/check.
Yearbooks will arrive in mid-May.
ILEARN Assessments
Indiana's ILEARN assessment window is Monday, April 15th through Friday, May 10th.
SMS plans to have students complete the assessments on April 16-18, April 22-25, and April 30-May 2.
Please try to avoid student absences/appointments on these ten days.
Spring Sports Season
Most spring sports have started practicing.
Golf and girls' tennis practices start this week.
Students should listen to the afternoon announcements for more information about tryouts, practices, and events.
Eventlink will still be the platform that we use to communicate with parents/family members regarding practices and events.

Scott 2 Calendar Reminders
The next three images contain reminders about some upcoming calendar events in Scott 2.
Monday, April 8th was changed to an eLearning day. The state created a website with some helpful resources related to the solar eclipse.
The 2024-2025 school calendar is also shown below for those of you who prefer to plan ahead.
Technology Reminder
As a reminder, students should only use their school-issued iPad and all of their school accounts for tasks that their teachers assign.
Students should not use their iPad or accounts for chatting via Google docs, searching non-education related terms/phrases, or any other activity that isn't directly related to something that a teacher assigned.
Morning Drop Off
Our morning supervision person arrives at that time.
Reminders for Walkers
Please be careful when crossing the streets, utilize sidewalks and crosswalks when available, and follow the street crossing signs.
Officer Nicholson has met with all students regarding safety at school and throughout the community.

Like many schools, we occasionally experience some supply/distribution delays. We will follow the posted menus when possible, but will have to make adjustments at times.
Student Handbook Update
The Scottsburg MS student handbook contains some updates for the 2023-2024 school year. The most significant changes took place in the attendance section.
