A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families,
We wanted to remind our families of our "Bring Your Own Device" policy, specifically related to Smartwatches. Students can use personal devices only, "to access internet sites relevant to the classroom curriculum or for instructional purposes" but still need permission to do so. Please read this policy carefully. Students cannot use personal devices to text or make calls during the day. We do have a VERY supportive front office so any child can call home if there is confusion about dismissal or an emergency.
With MUCH respect and appreciation,
Michelle
Warmly,
Michelle Pitts

Wellness WEEK
This year, Wellness Week is one week, not the month of March. Wellness Week will take place from March 18-22. We have heard that families would like more details and time to process/ask questions about these larger RES events, so we listened! Below is a link to the details of Wellness Week so you can start preparing! We are still working on a couple aspects of this draft but it will be FINALIZED by the end of this week.
Important Quick Tips:
1. Wellness Week will consist of a DAILY home challenge and a school challenge by THEME.
2. Students will be asked to track the completion of one school and home challenge each day.
3. There will be no wellness "store" but students will get recognized for completing their Wellness tracker.
CLICK HERE FOR WELLNESS WEEK INFORMATION
See, isn't this easy? We are asking students to recognize one aspect of wellness each day but for families to join us in this effort!

Portsmouth Time Machine: Rye 400
Local author/historian J. Dennis Robinson and Scholastic/Highlights illustrator Robert Squier showed 3rd and 4th graders how they made the 32-page historic comic “Portsmouth Time Machine.” Their visit was generously funded by REF. Mr. Robinson’s and Mr. Squier’s dynamic, colorful comic shows the 400+ year history of this area unfolding as two protagonists, a boy and a girl, explore their shared heritage by going back in time via a cell phone glitch. Their adventures include Black history, First People's history, and women's history. The author and illustrator discussed editing, researching and collaborating to bring the project to fruition. Lunch with Students
We do allow one family member at a time to have lunch with their child(ren) but this is very optional and we don't want families to feel pressured to attend.
- Email resoffice@sau50.org if you would like to attend with the date/time (starting October 1). It is important to anticipate who will be in the building. We love these opportunities for students and their family members but we will always put safety first.
- We do have a focus during this time...eating for energy and brain power!
- Family members must meet the child in the cafeteria and leave from the cafeteria.
- Lunch times are:
Kindergarten-11:45-12:10
First Grade-12:15-12:40
Second Grade-12:15-12:40
Third Grade- 11:15-11:40
Fourth Grade-11:15-11:40
