Graduation Class of 2024
Location: Bowdoin College, Watson Ice Arena, Harpswell Road
Seniors Arrive by 6:00 PM
See below for more information.
As in the past several years we will not limit the number of people attending Brunswick High School’s graduation. Graduation will start promptly at 7 P.M. and the doors to Watson Arena will open at 6 p.m. We ask that you refrain from saving seats. Please remember that we are guests at this host site and there is no smoking within 50 feet of the entrances.
Parking at Watson Arena fills up very quickly. Carpooling is highly encouraged. Once the parking lot is full it will be closed to all incoming traffic so as not to back up traffic onto Harpswell Road. Please plan accordingly. If your family has a need for an accessible spot, or if you need to drop someone off to avoid walking, please plan to arrive as early as possible.
We will run a shuttle bus from the high school to help alleviate some of the parking issues at Watson Arena. If you would like to park at the high school and take the bus over, shuttles will start running at 5:00 p.m. and run every 15 minutes. Return trips to the high school will begin shortly after the ceremony and run every 15 minutes until 9:00 p.m.
Graduates are expected to wear appropriate clothing for the occasion. Caps may be appropriately decorated.
No Noisemakers will be allowed.
Accessible seating on the floor level will be provided for wheelchair users or people with disabilities. If you or a member of your family needs this accommodation, please contact Kassandra Boies at Brunswick High School (207) 844-2354, or kboies@brunswicksd.org before June 3rd. This will ensure enough spaces are provided. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, this designated area is for the individual and one family member only; not the entire family.
We ask that everyone be seated at least 15 minutes before graduation begins (6:45 p.m.) so we may get the graduates lined up and ready for the ceremony to begin on time. Please keep children seated with you at all times during the ceremony.
All graduates will be located outside the arena as we prepare to line up for graduation. They will not be allowed inside, prior to the ceremony, while they are in cap and gown. In the event of rainy weather, the graduates will be lined up inside. If this occurs, we ask that family members and friends refrain from pulling students out of their line up for photos by 6:45 p.m.
Graduation will be livestreamed via a public link, shared the day before graduation, June 6th. Large video screens on either side of the stage will also assist with viewing of the ceremony in person.
Commencement photos will be taken by Two Nickels Photography. The photographers will take both candid and staged photos to be shared with the class after graduation. Please see the Class of 2024 Google classroom for additional information as the day gets closer.
At the end of the ceremony, the graduating class will march out the same way they came in and return to the outside area where they lined up.
Graduation is a special time for everyone. We ask everyone to respect the rights of others as we are all equally excited for these graduating seniors.
Sincerely,
The BHS Graduation Committee

Bowdoin College Polar Bear
By Kiersten Dinsmore, Class of 2024 BHS
A frozen repose, on Bowdoin campus
A predator of the preserved world
Carved from stone yet imbued with life.
Her fur a cascade of the winter's dream
Stuck in time but forever alive,
From glacier and tundras vast
Through all blizzards and winter fulleries
She reigns stiff and strong
Her presence a reminder of nature's strength
In the heart of winterhold

A Daily Journey
By Coco Meserve Class of 2024 BHS
Yellow buses line up in a row,
A daily journey, to and fro.
At the bus station, laughter rings,
Of simple jokes and the first of friendship "things".
Windows fogged with dreams untold,
A journey through the stories yet to unfold.
Overheating under the day's attire
All piled on, 'gee, what a winter gear fire!
Primary school magic in every stride,
Down the runway stripped aisle, where memories reside.
Oh, how we crammed, like those peanut butter jelly jams,
Dropped off at school to read "Green Eggs and Ham."

Naviance How To
All students have access to this resource that BHS uses for a variety of purposes in the process of investigating career paths and post secondary education options. If students have not yet accessed their Naviance account, they should be doing this in Flex (juniors will be getting passwords next week, in the event your student hasn’t logged in yet).
All students can take a variety of surveys to investigate areas of interest and career pathways and eventually start their list of potential colleges to apply to as seniors.
How to access Naviance:
Naviance can be used to help explore careers and college options/searches. In grade 12 Naviance is used (as a data management tool) to send out all materials from BHS for college applications - including transcripts and letters of recommendation.
1. Go to the BHS Website
2. Select Explore on the top right of the page.
3. Under the Student Column, there is Naviance listed.
4. Type in 04011 for the zip code and select Brunswick High School
5. Usernames are the prefix of emails for BHS (do not include the @portion)
6. Passwords should have been set in Flex or when meeting with school counselors for grades 9 and 10, grade 11 students may have them now or will get them next week.
Where to start?--- Go to Self- Discovery (at top) Complete the surveys!
Reminder - Seniors
Seniors-- you should be indicating in Naviance the responses you are receiving from colleges (acceptances) along with the school you plan on attending (once you know). Check with your counselor if you aren’t sure how to do this.
SCHOLARSHIPS
