CSD Top 3
Your monthly school district newsletter
Thursday, Jan. 11
Dear Canby Families,
Happy New Year! We are glad to have students back in school after the break. Remember that after careful consideration of the weather forecast and consultation with police, fire, and other school districts, all Canby students will be released from school 2 hours early tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 12. Additionally, there is no school on Monday, Jan. 15 as we celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Please read on for more important information in this month’s CSD Top 3, those three things we think you’d like to know, plus the school lunch menus.
Winter weather prep
As the temperatures get colder, it’s time to start preparing for winter weather! If the weather is severe enough to cancel school, the first day of inclement weather will be a snow day for all! Any inclement weather day thereafter through the rest of the school year will be an online learning day. Elementary school families, this means you may see iPads come home with your students if questionable weather is forecasted.
In the event of an online learning day, Canby High School will begin at 8:40 a.m. and all other schools will begin at 9:30 a.m. Students should watch for Zoom links from their teachers. If students have trouble connecting or need help, they should reach out to their teacher. Canby School District strives to make the most of this valuable educational time, but please know that students will not be penalized if they are unable to connect.
To make sure you’re set to receive information about school delays, or closures, and online learning days, please subscribe to Canby School District on FlashAlert. Now is also a good time to update your text preferences online by listing your phone number.
For more information, please see our inclement weather page.
CTE Summit
School Board Recognition Month
January is School Board Recognition Month! Canby School District joins education organizations around the state to honor the elected volunteers who serve on Oregon’s local school boards, education service district boards, and community college boards. Here in Canby, our board of directors is made up of seven members who spend many hours making decisions in an effort to support students. Please join us in thanking school board members Mark Bigej, Katie Iverson, Sara Magenheimer, Kelly Oliver, Tom Scott, Sherry Smith, and Shelley Vissers.
What's for lunch?
Check out the new monthly meal menus here. If you have not applied for free school meals, do so today either online or using a paper application.
Please note that menus are subject to change.
Community Bulletin Board
For information on upcoming events and opportunities for children and families, take a look at the flyers posted on our Community Bulletin Board. Note that many flyers are submitted from outside Canby School District, and Canby School District does not necessarily sponsor or endorse them.
How do we create a vibrant and engaged learning community dedicated to growth for all?
