SUMMER EBT IS COMING
Mora Schools will be participating in the new Summer EBT (S-EBT) program, which will help reduce child hunger by providing benefits to families with eligible school-age children for groceries throughout the summer.
Beginning this summer, the state of MN will provide grocery benefits to help families with eligible school-age children buy groceries during the summer. Learn more about this new program: http://www.fns.usda.gov/sebt/household.

A DAY OF ACHIEVEMENT AND EXPLORATION AT U OF M
Our German IV and Exploring the Teaching Profession CIS classes have achieved a milestone! They spent an enriching field day at the University of Minnesota. It was a day full of learning, creativity, and celebration!
MHS' German IV students shone brightly in a video competition, where their exceptional creativity earned them the coveted Creativity Award! Their talent and hard work truly paid off, showcasing their mastery and innovative use of the German language.
Meanwhile, our future educators from the Exploring the Teaching Profession class immersed themselves in the vibrant campus atmosphere with an informative tour. They also had the chance to work in small groups to reflect on and discuss their real-world classroom field experiences, gaining valuable insights into their future careers.
A big thank you to the University of Minnesota for hosting us and providing such a fantastic learning environment. Here's to many more days of celebrating learning and success for our students!
A DAY OF LANGUAGE, LEARNING, AND ADVENTURE!
What an incredible day for our MHS German 3 college students who visited St. Cloud State University this Wednesday, April 10th, as part of the "Huskies in the High Schools" program. The day was packed with activities that not only enriched their German language skills but also broadened their academic horizons!
Our students dived into history with a fascinating session making meaning of articles from the 1860s "Nordstern" (North Star) newspaper, providing a unique glimpse into German-American heritage right here in Saint Cloud. The experience was both enlightening and inspiring, connecting past and present through language.
The adventure continued with a visit to the study abroad office, where students explored exciting opportunities for international education. Lunch at Garvey Commons offered a taste of campus life, followed by a treasure hunt that led our students around the beautiful SCSU campus—truly a fun and interactive way to learn!
The sun shone brightly, mirroring the bright spirits of our students as they enjoyed this wonderful educational experience.
Thank you to SCSU for hosting us and providing such a rich and engaging program. Here’s to more adventures in learning and cultural exploration!

CIS COLLEGE LITERATURE FIELD DAY
Mora Schools facilitates multiple College in the Schools (CIS) courses, one of which is College Literature through the University of Minnesota. These courses allow Mora High School students to stay “on our campus” while earning both high school credits and college credits. The courses are designed to be nearly identical to those taught on the U of M campus, providing the rigor of college-level courses in a high school setting. Though primarily a literature course, College Literature also strengthens writing and discussion skills through reading, analyzing, and discussing multicultural texts.
Every year, CIS College Literature students from around the state attend a “field day” on the U of M campus to hear a speaker and discuss the text with other students. This year, the field day speaker was Ammina Ahmad, U of M creative writing professor and playwright/author. Ahmad recently published a work of fiction entitled The Return of Faraz Ali, of which Mora students read the first four chapters prior to attending the field day. After Ahmad spoke about the craft of writing and her writing of this book in particular, she answered questions from students that were formulated both prior to and during her presentation. After the presentation, each school was given one complimentary signed copy of the novel and were encouraged to take a picture with the author.
CIS College Literature teacher Rachel Norby said, “It was a valuable experience for students to read a piece of literature and then meet the author in person. Ahmad eloquently expressed the joys and challenges of writing historical fiction, showing her perseverance to finish a project she was passionate about, even with the demands of her job and her family. As Ahmad herself stated, her writing self is not her ‘secret, other self,’ but her ‘truest self.’
CIS College Literature students attended a “field day” at the University of Minnesota campus on Thursday, March 28th, to hear author Aamina Ahmad speak about her newest work of historical fiction, The Return of Faraz Ali. Front row (left to right): Mason Nelson, Quincy Asmus, Tanner Berry, Nora Kerr, author Aamina Ahmad (sitting), Parker Ennis, teacher Rachel Norby. Back row (left to right): Gage Johnson, Brock Folkema, Nathan Nelson, Nora Houglum, and Tayah Anderson.
