The weather is beautiful and it is great to be outside. We would like to encourage every student to come to school on a bike, scooter, roller blades or by walking during this special week.

During this week our classes will be doing the following to encourage safety when coming to school:

- We will encourage students to bike, walk, or scooter to school every day April 29 through May 3.

- Teachers will share safety tips with students.

- We will have daily raffle prizes given at the end of each day to those who did not drive to school.

- The class with the most participation will get an extra recess and cookies!

The PTA needs volunteers to decorate a teacher's door on May 3rd for Teacher Appreciation Week. Sign up at the link below and make a teacher's day brighter!

This past week in library we taught about "SORA," a free resource for students to read books and listen to audiobooks. Here are the instructions for you to be able to get SORA on your computer, phone, or tablet. Email me with any questions: oliviac@provo.edu

The student reading app

1. Go to Soraapp.com or download the Sora app from Google Play store and Apple App store.

2. Click on Find My School. Start typing then select Provo City School District.

3. Login with your Google school email address (ex: ab012345@stu.provo.edu) Their password is their birthday dd/mm/yyyy

4. Go to +Add Library. Add these libraries:

· Provo City School District

· Beehive Library Consortium

· Utah Dual Language Immersion

5. Go to Preferences. Select your preferences for available books, audiobooks, ebooks, immersion language, juvenile or young adult. Select Apply to save your changes.

6. Go to Settings and manage settings.

7. Enjoy reading or listening!

On the Friday after items are featured, if they have still not been picked up by the end of school on Friday, they will be donated to rotating charities in the community to benefit other children. We hope this will encourage students (and parents) to recognize they have lost something and check lost and found to see if it is turned in.

Sometimes it can take a few days to be found so we encourage students to check daily. Thank you for your help!

Scan and submit your receipts using the Box Tops App within 2 weeks of buying any items with the new Box Tops label that says SCAN. Be sure to choose Lakeview when you set up your account. Submitting receipts from online orders is also available from many stores. Check out www.boxtops4education.com if you have questions. We are not collecting paper box tops anymore.

Getting groceries from Smith’s and buying on Amazon can also make you earn money for our school. If you have a Smith’s member ID (phone number), go to their website and login with your email. Search for Inspiring Donations under the My Account tab and use our Organization Number: LD084. When shopping on Amazon, access through smile.amazon.com and search to support Lakeview Elementary PTA (Salt Lake Cty, UT) to earn some cash back to our school.
