End of Year testing has begun!
As part of the state mandated testing program, children in grades 3-5 will be given an End-of-Grade (EOG) Reading and Math Grades 3-5 and Science Grades 5 assessments.
It is important that you remind your child of the following cell phone/electronic device policy as required by the State testing policy:
Other than permitted calculators, students are not allowed to have in their possession or to use cell phones or any other electronic devices at any time during testing, including breaks. Any student with a cell phone/electronic device during testing time must be dismissed from testing and a misadministration declared. The student possessing the device will be removed from testing and will have to retest on a different day. It is also possible that the entire class will be required to retest if a violation occurs.
It is imperative that your child prepares diligently for the test(s) and there are ways you can help.
The night before the test:
Make sure your child goes to bed at a reasonable time so he/she is well rested.
Keep your routine as normal as possible.
Be positive and confident in the fact that you know your child will do his/her best.
Plan ahead to avoid conflicts on the morning of the test.
The morning of the test:
Get up on time or a little early to avoid rushing and make sure your child arrives at school on time.
Have your child eat a nutritious breakfast at home or at school.
Be positive and encourage your child to do his/her best and to show what he/she knows.
Please note that we expect our students to do their very best on this test; however, The State Board of Education (SBE) along with NCDPI allows any student who is not proficient on an End-of-Grade (EOG) assessment the opportunity to retest at the end of Summer Achievement. Summer Achievement will be June 3-10. Participation will highly encouraged if your child does not meet proficiency.
Our students and staff have worked hard and we are confident testing will go well. We appreciate your support.
