Directors held a public hearing for the FY 2025 budget and approved the budget.

BMS Battle of the Books
Congratulations to the Bettendorf Middle School Black team (Grayson Barr, Olivia Howard, Sophia Everding) for finishing 1st at the Eastern Iowa Regional Iowa Teen Award Battle of the Books. Two teams from Bettendorf Middle School battled against two teams each from Pleasant Valley and Davenport's Smart, Sudlow, Walcott, Williams, and Wood on their knowledge of the 2023-2024 Iowa Teen Award nominees at the Bettendorf Public Library. Bett Esports Team
Congratulations to our Esports Valorant Team for their 2-0 win over East Buchanan High School. Congrats to our JV Mario Kart team for their 1st place win against Oskaloosa and Ankeny High Schools: Ankeny – 85, Oskaloosa – 46 and Bett – 133.
Conservation Club
Congratulations to the Conservation Club who competed in the Envirothon Competition and placed 5th in our region out of 49 teams, which means they have advanced to the state competition! The State Envirothon will be held Monday, April 29th at Jester Park Nature Center in Granger, Iowa. The students who participated on this state-qualifying team are Kaelee Wolf, Michael Farmer, Kaija Anderson, Josey Wells, Lizzie Pegg, and Seth Rashid. Learn more about the club
BHS Get Lit Writing Conference Awards
Congratulations to the BHS students who attended the Get Lit Writing Conference at WIU. The following students received awards for their written or visual work.
- Short Stories: 1st Place: Arianna Vesey, “A Bëeg-BAhD Day”, 3rd Place: Connor Culbertson, “The Shattered Throne”
- Gender/Sexuality: 2nd Place: Stella Lundh, “Finally Free”
Chrissy Block & Meghan Purcell Present at National Art Educators Association Conference
Elementary Art Teachers Chrissy Block & Meghan Purcell presented two sessions at the National Art Educators Association Conference (NAEA) National Conference in Minneapolis: Designing An Alight Curriculum That Works for You & Bookmaking Techniques to Authentically Support SEL.
Cooper Agosta to Attend United States Naval Academy
Bettendorf Senior Cooper Agosta has been offered admission into the United States Naval Academy. Cooper's hard work, dedication to serving his country, and kind heart exude the character traits necessary for success in this endeavor. Congratulations Cooper and Mr. and Mrs. Agosta!
BHS Construction Classroom Receives $10K Casey's Grant
Bettendorf High School is a 2024 Casey’s Cash for Classrooms grant recipient. Thanks to Industrial Technology Teacher Joe Shoemaker, the school will receive $10K to purchase tools needed for its new construction program.
The funding will help buy the tools of the trade, allowing students to get hands-on experience with the equipment and tools they would use in the construction field. The opportunity will help students jump into the workforce with knowledge of the tools and practical experience.
5th and 6th Grade band students participate in Coe College Honor Band
Saturday, April 13th the following Bettendorf students were selected for and participated in the Coe College Honor Band. Students rehearsed throughout the day with composer/conductor Carol Brittin Chambers and presented a concert. Learn more

Bettendorf Fine Arts Boosters Meeting - April 29
The Fine Arts Boosters support students and staff in the BCSD performing arts programs: band, orchestra, choir, and theatre. They are open to all families and community members.
The Bettendorf Fine Arts Boosters (BFAB) have determined that becoming a 501(c)3 is the best course of action for the organization. At the next BFAB General Meeting, officers will be elected and the bylaws will be approved. If you have any questions or concerns, please plan to attend or email bettfinearts@gmail.com
The General meeting is 6:30 pm on Monday, April 29, in BHS Fine Arts Room 2. You can park in the north lot and can enter through entrance 2N. More information

JDRF One Walk - May 4
Each year, JDRF One Walk brings together thousands of people across the country to change the future for everyone living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). JDRF One Walk gives people with T1D, their loved ones, companies and the local community the opportunity to create change and positively impact the lives of those living with T1D.

St. Ambrose in Collaboration with Bettendorf, Davenport, and Moline Coal Valley
Future Teachers Academy for High School Seniors
Rising high school seniors from the Quad Cities, who are planning to pursue a career in teaching, are invited to attend our Future Teachers Academy. For two weeks, future teachers will participate in two introductory college courses common to teacher preparation programs with an additional course required in the fall semester, earning seven college credits tuition-free!
Students must be attending high school in Bettendorf Community Schools, Davenport Community Schools or the Moline-Coal Valley School District. Upon admission to St. Ambrose University and enrollment in the Educator Preparation Program, each Academy participant is eligible to receive an $8,000 scholarship, distributed over four years. Accepting 4-Year-Old Preschool Applications
The Bettendorf Community School District is now accepting preschool applications for the 2024-2025 school year. If your child will be four years old on or before September 15, 2024, he/she is eligible to participate. Learn more
