• Ceramic wall tiles are going to be installed in the restrooms.

• Four light post bases have been installed by the wall down on the playground.

• Classroom furniture has been ordered.

An essential element for a child's educational success is their attendance. Regular and punctual attendance is expected of all students at Monte Vista Elementary School. Absences for reasons other than illness are discouraged since students miss valuable instructional time and tend to become overwhelmed when trying to make up missed schoolwork. Please plan to take your vacations during non-school days as they are considered unexcused absences.

Here are two ideas to keep your family engaged with books.

2. Spring Clean those bookshelves!

We'd love to have all the books your family has outgrown - as long as they are in okay shape and age appropriate (preschool-6th grade). We will either use them in our library or sell them at our year-end book sale. This book sale is a major source of funding to buy new books each year. We need donations! Boxes/bags of books can be dropped off in the office.

Our Student Council prepared the following videos about the rules for Monty Lane in English, Korean, and Armenian.

Important Reminders

1. No U-Turns or 3-point turns into neighbors’ driveways
2. No cutting in front of cars in Monty Lane
3. Please pull forward to pick up your child if there is a space in front of you
4. Please do not cross the street without a crosswalk or cross the street through Monty Lane
5. Please do not block driveways
6. Parents who pick up primary and upper-grade students may not pick up their primary student and wait in Monty Lane for their upper-grade sibling. You will be asked to go around the block.

Mark your calendars for next Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 6:00 pm at Glendale High School to celebrate diversity in our district. Our Korean DLI 5th graders will be taking the stage with a unique performance! They'll be performing "IDOL" by BTS, incorporating the traditional Korean instrument, the Sogo drums, alongside modern EDM beats, creating a captivating sonic blend. Glendale Unified is planning our second annual celebration in honor of Armenian-American Heritage Month! Join us on Saturday, April 13, at Hoover High School for panel discussions, speakers, and presentations from talented Armenian and Armenian-Americans whose inspirational stories, hard work, and perseverance have gotten them to where they are today.

Transitional Kindergarten is coming to Monte Vista for the 2024-2025 school year! If your child turns 5 between September 2, 2024, and June 2, 2025, you can enroll them in TK for the 2024-25 school year. If you live out of the Monte Vista area, you will need to apply at your homeschool.

Starting in August, the kindergarten schedule will be extended and will be similar to 1st-3rd grades. The district Full Day Kindergarten Committee is currently working on details in regards to the new schedule/program and you can find more information about it using this link. Although we will also be selling wristbands the day of the event, we would like to get a sense of numbers to plan accordingly so please turn in your pre-order forms at your earliest convenience.
