The East Butler Public School Board met in regular session on Monday, March 11, 2024.
FACT VS. FICTION
HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED, WHAT SKILLS EAST BUTLER TEACHES????
East Butler offers a large number of academic/content and career/technical education (CTE) courses. We understand the importance of preparing our students for where-ever their path may lead.
ACADEMIC CONTENT COURSES (We offer dual credit - college level courses in each of the content areas.
- English - English 1, 2, 3, 4 as well as college prep English, and Speech
- Math - Algebra, Algebra II, College Algebra, Geometry, PreCalculus, Calculus, Technical Math, and Trigonometry
- Science - Earth Science, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Science Applications
- Social Studies - American History, Civics, Geography, Government, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, and study skills.
CTE COURSES OFFERED:
- Technology - Robotics, Computer Science, Intro to Computers 8, Foundations of computing, entrepreneurship, and Digital Media
- Family & Consumer Science - Housing, Advanced Clothing, FCS 7, Child Development, Advanced Foods, FCS 1, Nutrition Science, Family Relations, and FCS 8
- Agriculture - Floriculture, Crop Management, Natural resources, Intro to Ag., Vet Science, Animal Science, Small and Large Animal Management, Landscaping, Plant Science, Ag 7, and Ag 8.
- Skilled & Technical Sciences - Welding 1, 2, & 3, Welding Fabrication, Autos, Intro to STS, Electrical Wiring, Mechatronics, Drafting, Advanced Drafting, Construction 1 & 2, STS 7 , and STS 8.
You can see, for a school district our size, we offer a tremendous amount of opportunities for our students in the Career and Technical area. In addition to these classes, we also require our students to take a personal finance course.
We pride ourselves in the opportunities that we provide our students, and we know full well that we are creating individuals ready to tackle the world around them.

LEGISLATION UPDATE
SUMMER PROJECTS UPDATE
Superintendent Eldridge shared with the Board the summer projects that are currently planned. Work on these projects will commence once the school year concludes.
BRAINARD SOFTBALL CONCESSION STAND UPDATE
Valerie Vandenberg and Chad Kreikemeier were at the meeting to share the progress that has been made in the construction of a new concession stand at the Brainard softball complex.
As of the meeting, the footings and concrete pad have been formed. Block work is beginning with the framing happening once the block work is completed. This concession stand will have two new restrooms as well.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR SPONSORSHIP INFORMATION
Superintendent Eldridge shared with the school board the current list of exra-curricular sponsorships for the 2024-2025 school year.

MOWING BIDS
The East Butler Public School District annually accepts bids for mowing services. This year, the school received two bids:
Express Lawn Care - $500/mowing
Sloup Mowing - $450/mowing
Approved accepting the bid from Express Lawn Care for $500/mowing.

PURCHASE OF LAPTOP COMPUTERS
Apple Computers - $93,832.00
Approved the bid for the purchase of Apple computers for the incoming 9th grade class as well as the teaching staff.

NEW SCHOOL VEHICLE
As referenced in previous meetings, as well as during budget preparations, the school should begin to refresh its vehicle fleet. Below were proposed options for the purchase of a new 2024 Chevrolet Suburban.
Sid Dillon - $59,618
Meyer Auto - $62,995
Ernst Auto - No bid provided.
Accepted the bid from Sid Dillon for $59,618.

PROPOSED WAGE RESTRUCTURING
The administrative team has been discussing a wage structure, specifically for our paraprofessional staff and administrative assistants. To attract and retain highly qualified staff. This wage structure would be for those who have completed an advanced degree.
N/A - $15.00/hour
Associates Degree - $15.75/hour
Bachelors Degree - $16.50/hour
Master Degree - $17.00/hour
Approved the adoption of the proposed wage structure for advanced degree completion for paraprofessionals and administrative assistants.

LanMan Partnership Agreement
The East Butler School District contracts with ESU7 out of Columbus for a LANMAN (Technology Director). This is would be the sixth year that East Butler would be entering into this partnership.
The Annual Cost for four days of service - $84,150
Approved the LANMAN Partnership agreement for four days of service.

DWIGHT ELEMENTARY GUTTER REPAIR
The Dwight Elementary rain gutter needs repair. Three companies were approached about doing this work. The following were the bids that were received:
McKinnis Roofing & Sheet Metal - $7,998.
The Gutter Company - $14,078.00
Building Tech - Did not provide Bid
J & D Seamless Gutters - Did not provide Bid
Approved accepting the bid from McKinnis Roofing & Sheet Metal.
