BEST FINISH EVER
Let's hear it for our Dodgeville/Mineral Point/Iowa-Grant/Highland Gymnastics team that placed 6th in Division 2 at the WIAA State Meet Friday in Wisconsin Rapids, which is the highest the team has placed in their six State appearances (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2024)!
A big round of applause for Dodgeville/Mineral Point/Iowa-Grant/Highland Gymnastics Team member Faith Yaun who took home the bronze and earned a spot on the awards podium, placing 3rd on the Balance Beam at Saturday's WIAA State Meet in Wisconsin Rapids! Faith scored a 9.233, which was a personal best for her. Congrats also to Brooklyn Murphy and Myra Barr for their performances to wrap up an amazing season!

Count 'em -- One -- Two -- Three Peat Regional Champs! A big congrats to our #PointerNation Boys Basketball team on its 67-43 win Saturday vs. Lancaster in the WIAA Regional Final! Next up will be the Sectional Semifinal at Lancaster Thursday vs. Darlington as the Redbirds beat Belleville 65-54. Keep it going, Pointers!

Our youngest Pointers have had quite the adventure learning about dinosaurs! Roar!
WISCONSIN'S FIRST PEOPLE
4th graders have been busy learning how Wisconsin’s first people lived throughout our state, dating back to 12,000 years ago! As part of a culminating activity, 4th graders constructed a replica of an early Wisconsin Native American home. 4th grade students invited 3rd grade students to their classrooms and taught them all about their Native American home project!

Dr. Seuss’ Birthday is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2 — his birthday!
CTE MONTH CELEBRATION
Did you know that February was Career & Technical Education Month?! Making sure our students are career and college ready is a priority in #PointerNation. We currently have 43 students in the Youth Apprenticeship Program! Check out this video from Mrs. Martin's Media & Marketing class to learn more about a few of them.

Mrs. Radtke’s 2nd graders are learning about inventions and how technology has changed over time. They enjoyed seeing how the telephone has improved through the years!
FUTURE EDUCATORS
Let's hear it for our potential future educators! A group of MPHS students interested in becoming educators went to UW-Platteville for the UWP Education Exploration Day and had a great time, including listening to MP Alum Olivia Wendhausen as part of the UWP Educators Rising Student Panel!
MS WRESTLING IS STATE RUNNER-UP
A big congratulations to our 6th-8th grade middle school wrestling team that placed 2nd in Division 2 at the WWF Kids State Team Duals in Verona this weekend!

Students enjoyed celebrating an event that happens only once every four years!
AMBIDEXTROUS
1st graders talked about what certain Presidents were known for. James Garfield was not only ambidextrous, but could write in one language with one hand and the other hand in another language! Students tried writing with both of our hands at the same time and had so much fun!

EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENING
The next Mineral Point Early Childhood Development Screening will take place Wednesday, March 6! This screening is open to children who were born between the dates of 9/1/20 and 11/30/21. SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATE INTERVIEWS
Pointer Media students will be interviewing School Board Candidates and sharing out a video of their responses.
Candidates invited include (listed in order they will appear on the ballot): Rachael Bergstrom (incumbent), Justin Skelding (incumbent), Alan Schrank, and Aaron Dunn (incumbent).
You may submit questions for the candidates no later than Sunday, March 10. You can submit a question using the following methods:

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER TRAINING
We'd love to have you join our sub pool! There will be a Substitute Teacher Training held at CESA 3 in Fennimore at 9 am on March 13. This training is one of the requirements for a sub license in Wisconsin (including the minimum of an associate's degree). Participants can register here:
ELEMENTARY TALENT SHOW
Mineral Point National Honor Society is hosting a talent show for Elementary School students! Any students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 5 have been invited to participate (forms were due back March 1). Students will be able to perform their talent in front of their peers on Tuesday, March 19th. More information including the timing of the talent show will be shared closer to the date of the event.
FFA BANQUET
We are so excited for our annual Mineral Point FFA Chapter banquet Tuesday, March 19! The many celebrations of our members' accomplishments will begin at 7 pm in the cafeteria. Congrats to all! 5TH GRADE FILM FESTIVAL
Join our 5th graders Thursday, March 21 at 1:45 pm at the Mineral Point Opera House for their Film Festival! Students are creating short films in their music and technology classes and are excited for this premiere!
SPRING BREAK
Spring Break will be held for Mineral Point Schools from Saturday, March 23 through Sunday, March 31. Classes will resume Monday, April 1.
