A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
We have a very busy month of March ahead of us! In the next few weeks, students will have Friday, March 15th, off as teachers continue their professional learning. The following week, students will have two half days of school as we hold parent/teacher conferences on March 21st. Please be sure to schedule a time to meet with your child's teacher.
On March 25th, the RSU1 Board of Directors will hold the first reading of the 2024-2025 budget. This is an opportunity for you to attend and have your opinion heard regarding items in the budget. All budget meetings take place at Morse High School.
We are very fortunate that the Phippsburg PTA has agreed to sponsor a performance by the Harlem Triksterz. This will be a forty-five minute show that all students pre-K through fifth grade will attend. They will also be performing at BMS at 6:30 pm on the 26th. Click HERE for more information.
Finally, you may have heard that I have decided to retire at the end of this school year. I appreciate the opportunities afforded to me during my ten years at RSU1. I will miss the Phippsburg community, and will always hold fond memories of the students and their families. I will forever be amazed at the community support for Phippsburg Elementary School and its wonderful students.
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS
Could Your Child Benefit from Mentoring?
When it comes to our children's future, we’re in this together. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/Brunswick pairs screened positive mentors with youth to create a community where all children achieve success.
We offer school-based mentoring, in which your child is matched with a trained adult volunteer who meets with them weekly at their school for lunch and recess. We also offer community-based mentoring, in which your child and their Big meet to do fun things together on a schedule that works for them.
All our programs are free! Contact your school counselor for more information or visit bbbsbathbrunswick.org.
YEAR BOOK VOLUNTEER
We are looking for a volunteer to create this year's PES year book. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Doran at 389-1514 as soon as possible. If we don't get a volunteer soon, there won't be a year book this year.
PARENTS, PLEASE REVIEW SCHOOL BUS RULES WITH YOUR CHILD IF THEY RIDE THE BUS
Remain seated.
Face the front of the bus.
Keep hands and feet to yourself and out of the aisle.
Use a quiet voice to talk.
No eating and drinking.
Keep the bus clean by cleaning up after yourself.
Use kind and respectful language.
Also: always remember the Danger Zone, and follow Bus Driver’s direction.
Students who violate the bus rules will be sent home with a bus slip. Upon receipt of a third bus notice, the student and parents will meet with the principal to determine a corrective plan of action. The principal reserves the right to remove students from the bus for a period of time based upon rule violations at any time.
KINDERGARTEN SEARCH
Do you, or someone you know, have a child living in Phippsburg that will be five by October 15th? If so, they are eligible for our full-day kindergarten class. Please call Mrs. Doran at 389-1514, and we’ll add them to the list for this fall, and contact you when we schedule Parent Information Night and Kindergarten screening. Advance notice helps us to ensure we have enough materials. Online kindergarten registration is now available at the link at the bottom of our website. We look forward to assisting you.
