Your monthly school district newsletter
Thursday, March 7
Dear Canby Families,
I hope you enjoy some very fun and informative tidbits below in this month’s CSD Top 3, those three things we think you’d like to know, plus the lunch menus. Enjoy!
Student Spotlight
OBOB
Congratulations to Canby’s Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) district champions! In the 3rd- to 5th-grade division, coming out on top was The Beastie Books from Ninety-One School, made up of team members Elizabeth Burke, Emmitt Steinert, Lilyanna Guzman, and Hudson Haycock. In the 6th- to 8th-grade division, the winning team was That’s What We’re Tolkien About, also from Ninety-One School, with team members Alli Read, Sophie DeShazer, Cole Wilson, and Devlin Martens. Way to go, readers! And good luck at regionals!
Trost and Lee elementary school third- to sixth-graders participate in the district’s Bilingual Battle of the Books throughout the year, including a Spanish battle, an English battle, and a bilingual battle. The Spanish battle is complete, and students will take on the English and bilingual battles later this spring! Good luck students!
CTE Summit
The district’s annual CTE Summit was a big hit, with many students, staff, and community members getting excited about career and technical education. The event was held at Canby High on March 1, where we welcomed 6th grade students from each of our elementary schools and 8th grade students from both Baker Prairie and Ninety-One, as well as community members. Canby High CTE students led the guests on tours of the CTE classrooms and taught at stations within those classrooms, including culinary, digital media, early childhood education, agriculture, construction, leadership and more.
